Message to everyone.....

The reason why you cannot upload scenes is because someone at Algoryx (the company that owns Algodoo) placed a lock on uploading scenes to Algobox. Even I cannot upload scenes. The reason why they did that is because I told them that I can no longer be Admin. And I believe they locked it because of the fact that Algobox now has no Admin to watch over it.

Because of my very busy personal schedule, I can no longer devote time to my duties as an Admin here on Algobox, and that's why I had to quit.

I believe that Algoryx will assign some other Admin to take over these duties, but I do not know who that person will be or when that might happen. You will just have to hang-tight and wait to see what happens.

This is just an informational comment, and as such, I will not respond to any other comments or questions concerning this issue.

Feel free to cut and paste my comments above to pass them along to others.

Thanks,
Xray
No one is taking my account. In fact, I may still upload scenes in the future when I have time. "Xray" will always be ME!!! The new Admin will have a different name.

That's all....
Nice try, wild bill, but you are wasting your time. These kids have been talked to with reason many times in the past only to fall on deaf ears. The problem is, a high percentage of these kids are only 6 to 9 years old. They do not have any good sense or logic yet. All they know is to "play" and with very simple things like colored stick figures. And that group is currently the majority here on Algobox. If it was up to me, things would be a lot different, but as long as Algoryx calls the shots and makes the rules, the only thing that Admins can do is enforce those rules.

Well, The Linkage, you just may get your wish! I really have no idea what Emanuel has planned for Algobox, but I can almost guarantee that it won't be anything major. Algoryx has no financial incentive to make any meaningful or dramatic changes to the web site. All everyone can hope for is maybe another "Bandaid" fix of some sort. I have always pushed to divide Algobox into two separate sections: One for the children, and another for the experienced technical people. But I know that that will probably never happen. It's never a good idea to allow children and adults to play together in the same sandbox. ;)

77774000042 -- I call it "CHAOS".
The U.S. coin is slightly larger and heavier, and so the mechanism makes it take a different path.
Here's an update on the situation:

At this point in time, I do not know the fate of Algobox. We are waiting to hear from Emanuel (an employee at Algoryx) to find out what will become of this website. It may continue after a new Admin is selected and trained, or it my become terminated. Only time will tell.

That's all I know for now. I am waiting patiently just like the rest of you.

Xray
Yes, I know.
s_noonan - Your spur gears are SO QUIET. In fact I can't hear them at all while turning. Good job!
This kind of scene might get you banned. I reported it to wild bill.
Very impressive work! Excellent coding (and, holy cow, with COMMENTS!). The tooth profiles look perfect, and I'm not even a "gearhead". This scene is a solid 10.
I wrote this comment because I was just bored.
Comment Thingy.

I literally don't know what to comment.
Random comment. Time is moving backward.

Another "Random comment" comment thing.
Please forgive me.

This is a comment (?/10).

Sorry guys...
s_noonan - I give up! What is the answer to your "Trick Question"?
Ummmm.... 800? 100? 8 infinity? :bonk:
Oy vey!

Comment FOR FREE USE!!
Why are you so worried about being banned? What did you do that might cause me or another Admin to ban you?
You do not need to keep saying that you are "just a kid"! Most of the current users on ALgobox are kids between the ages of 6 and 14. Everyone has to play by the rules regardless of how old they are, and as long as you do that, then you do not need to worry about being banned again.
"Rack" your brain? :x You should be punished for that one.
Shame on you, Stormstar-! Did you really think that you are being clever by providing a YouTube link to a scene that was deleted by an Admin? We are not that stupid, ya know! I reported this scene to wild bill, and when he gets back to Algobox later today, you can expect him to delete this scene and to send you another warning. Try something like this again, and you WILL get banned.

@Null - Don't they teach you kids in school how to spell and how to form a proper sentence? The spelling and grammar that I see coming from most of the kids that use Algobox are what I would expect from preschoolers or from children who have learning disabilities.
@aus2006 - I don't believe that this scene has any kind of a point. Like Strv-7 said, he made it because he got bored, and so it is basically random weirdness that leaked from his brain.
jakubKubo - Every once in a while either while taxiing or flying, the plane will "jump" or shake as if it was hit by something. When that happens, it will sometimes flip around or will crash. Did you notice anything like that while testing it?
wild bill and Hard Hat Beaver - Thanks guys! :)

Uglytopians - No, not right. I am still an Admin, but I no longer spend time watching over the children here on Algobox. wild bill now does that.

SlimeBlobFlynn - You and the other kids need to understand what Algobox was originally intended for. It was intended to share dynamic simulations made with Algodoo. The scenes that get uploaded today, are STATIC scenes. For you kids who do not understand what that means: A static scene does not MOVE. It does not demonstrate any physics at all. People use Algodoo as if it was a Paint or drawing program. And now you kids are using Algobox for telling stories, posting Question and Answer scenes, and guessing each other's favorite color. Those are not what Algobox was originally used for. If we allow children to corrupt it into something that it's not supposed to be, then adults and older teens will not use it, which is exactly what has been happening the past five or so years. So, I hope this answers your question as to why we do not allow "whodonnits" and other such scenes.

Nice job overall, but it does need some work. Yes, the doors are "buggy" as you stated, so I suggest that you spend more time on them to make them work properly. Another suggestion is to uncheck the boxes labeled "toggle" in all of the wheel axles. With the axle controls being in toggle mode, operation of the control keys (forward, reverse, and brake) are confusing. For this type of scene it is better if a user has to hold down the control keys in order for them to operate. Except for those details, your scene was nicely done!

Oh, and one more thing. If you do not want objects in your scene to bounce (like the opening and closing doors), click on "material" in each object that will hit each other, and make the "Restitution" value ZERO. Currently, it is set to the default value of 0.5.

Yoop Yoop - Are you using the latest version of Algodoo? Some scenes will not work properly if you are using the old program called "Phun" or even an older version of Algodoo.
I do not see Algodoo "Options". All I see is a bunch of spinning gears. What does this scene have to do with options?
