Rules For Scenes Posted On Algobox

1. Profanity: Dirty words or "cuss" words are not allowed on Algobox in any form. That includes abbreviations of profanity, such as "WTF" and any other similar type of abbreviation that most people understand as being profanity. Profanity is not allowed in scenes, in scene descriptions, and in comments.

2. Sexually explicit scenes: Scenes that depict (display images of) sexual body parts or sexual activity are not allowed on Algobox in any form.

3. Threats: Threatening another user in any manner, either in scenes, or in comments, is not allowed. Also, personally attacking another user with insults or slander is not allowed. Using the excuse, "I was only joking", will not be accepted as an excuse for such behavior. Threatening another person in any manner will never be tolerated here on Algobox.

4. Plagiarism: Uploading scenes or parts of scenes that were copied from other users without their permission is not allowed on Algobox. Some users incorrectly believe that giving credit in your scene to another user makes it Okay to copy and upload works by another user, but Giving credit is NOT the same as asking permission! You must receive their permission before posting their material, and THEN you can give them credit if they so desire. If you cannot contact the other user (possibly because they no longer use Algobox), it's then Okay to use their material as long as they do not challenge you about it if they return to Algobox on a later date.

Keep the following important note in mind: When a user copies a scene or a part of a scene from someone else, there is no way to know for certain if the copied material was created by the other person or not! He/She may have copied the scene or the object from someone else, and parts of that scene or object may have been copied multiple times by multiple users! That sort of thing happens A LOT on Algobox. Because of the fact that trying to determine who was the original author of a scene or objects within a scene is nearly impossible, the Admin will not spend his or her time trying to determine who the original author was.

5. "Hate" material: Flags, banners, posters, and any images that promote evil ideologies are not allowed to be included in scenes. Some examples are, the Nazi Swastika, KKK flags and images, and all other symbols and images that are well known and are classified as racist or "Hate" material.

6. Using Algobox to chat: Algobox is not a chat room! Therefore, we do not allow user-to-user chatting within scenes (such as question and answer messages, "whodunnit" scenes, guessing games, and all other forms of chatting with other users). It's okay to chat in the comments section of scenes (please read section 9 below) but not in the actual scenes themselves. Many young users play interactive games in which they ask for votes or signups in their camps. Those kinds of activities are not allowed, and users who violate these rules will be warned and/or banned, as determined by the Admin.

7. Scene upload daily limit: A maximum of three (3) scenes per day may be uploaded. This rule is necessary because without it the main scene display page would be covered with a single user's scenes which is not fair to other users. This rule is also to prevent low quality (or spam) scenes from cluttering up the web site.

8. Types of scenes which may not be posted: In order to prevent people from using scenes like a "Chat Room", we limit the types of scenes which are allowed. The following list includes examples of the types of scenes which are not allowed: "Results" of events, scores, including scoreboards, leaderboards, and lists of "athlete" positions, and other such scenes. Also, "Voting" scenes, "Whodunnit" scenes, "Signup" scenes, "Coming Attraction" scenes, "What Should I Make" scenes, and any other similar types of scenes. These types of scenes are considered announcements or chats which are strictly forbidden.

9. Comments section: The comments section of scenes have different rules than what the scenes themselves have. The following list of items are things that are allowed in the comments section: Scoreboards, Leaderboards, Results of events, and Announcements. Also, you may ask questions in comments such as "What should I make next", or "Who is your favorite athlete?", and those sorts of things. The comments section is for "chatting". You may also make announcements in the comments section. For example, you may use the comments section to let others know that you will be absent from Algobox for some period of time. Keep in mind that you still must not use the scene or the scene title for those purposes. For example, it is NOT okay to put "Read my comments!" in the scene or in the scene title because that, in itself, is considered an announcement. So, basically, the comments section can be used for almost any kind of dialog (chatting with another person), as long as you do not violate any of the Rules or the Algodoo Terms of Service. For example, using cuss words is not allowed in comments or anywhere else on Algobox.

10. Multiple accounts: Multiple accounts are not allowed and all accounts that are suspected to be from the same user will be banned. If you believe there has been a mistake, please reply to the email you get when you are banned and explain your situation.

11. Bug reports: If you have found a bug in Algodoo (Algodoo crashes or behaves unexpectedly), please use the group "Bug reports" when you upload the scene. This prevents other users from accidentally downloading and running a broken scene and it makes it easier for the developers of Algodoo to find and fix the problem.

1. The above rules are in addition to the Algodoo Terms Of Service (TOS). These rules have been written in such a way that most school-age users should be able to read and understand them. We suggest that a parent or other adult read and explain the rules to a child who, for any reason, cannot read and understand these rules, and we ask that the adult monitor all material that the child wants to post.

2. When rules are violated, then the user will usually be warned by the Admin (short version of "Administrator"). In some cases, if the Admin determines that the violation was particularly aggressive, threatening, or evil, then the violator will likely be immediately banned rather than to simply be warned. If the bad behaviour continues after being warned or after being banned for a short time period, then the violator will be banned from using Algobox forever.

3. The Admin strives to be fair, impartial, and considerate with all users although it may not seem like that to everyone, especially to the ones who are being disciplined. The Admin, and/or employees of Algoryx (the company that owns the Algodoo web site) shall have the final decision in any dispute with its users.

Remember: Algobox is a place to learn and to have fun, and that can only happen when everyone plays by the rules and behaves themselves appropriately.
