We software guys can certainly build a limited I-Phone simulator, but it's impractical or impossible for us to duplicate all the intricate mechanical and electrical components of a real I-Phone. (I'm sure you knew that)
Tomski -- In case you did not know this, you can EDIT your comments so long as you use a standard internet browser rather than the Algodoo built-in browser. Using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, or any other browser, just click on the little blue paper and yellow pencil symbol in the upper right corner of the comment, and then you should be able to make any changes to it.
Nice work on creating this strange attractor! You must have spent MANY hours on it.
This is one of the reasons why I love math so much (even though there's a lot about it that I do not understand). I love the pretty pictures you can make with it.
Math is the language of the Universe, and this is just one small example of it talking to us.
Thanks for that link, s_noonan. That talk was interesting and humorous. Then the next TED Talk that popped up after that one was also very interesting, and educational. It was more of a history lesson about how technology can advance only through the exchange of ideas between human groups and other cultures: When Ideas Have Sex This one really got me thinking because I've always wondered what it would be like to be able to take a cell phone back in time to the 18th or 19th century and give it to the smartest people during that time to see if they could figure out what it is and how it works. Of course it would be as strange to them as if an advanced Alien being were to land here on Earth in 2017 and give us humans a piece of technology that was hundreds or thousands of years ahead of our technology and understanding. We would not have a clue what it does or how it works, and it would be impossible for us to duplicate it.
No, I do not work for Algoryx. A few years ago, one of the other Admins started going to college, and he had very limited extra time to devote to watching over Algobox. So, I volunteered to become an Admin. In case you did not know, Algoryx is a Swiss company, and I am located in the U.S. I am semi-retired, and so I can spend a lot of my free time watching over Algobox, and also occasionally making my own scenes with Algodoo.
Yes, I am well aware of how long it could take to make a complex scene. Back in 2012 I designed and uploaded a replica of a German "Enigma" cryptographic machine. Between doing the research, understanding how it works, designing the scene, debugging the scene, and making improvements to it, I probably spent well over a month of spare time on it. Here is the link to it if you would like to check it out: Enigma Cryptographic Machine
And the kids here think that spending more than ten minutes on a marble race is a huge, exhausting effort!
Please correct me if I am wrong, but in a "linear" interpolation, you basically connect-the-dots with interpolated points. But in a polynomial interpolation, the interpolated points still connect-the-dots, but not with straight lines. The new data points scribe either a sin or cos pattern, but they should "hug" the original data points rather closely. I noticed in this scene that the new data scribes a sinusoidal curve that swings quite far above and below the original data points, which, to me, doesn't seem quite right. Please explain.....
BTW - As I've mentioned many times in the past, although I love math and the things that can be accomplished with it, my math skills are rather weak. So, if I said anything above which sounds "dumb" or doesn't make sense mathematically, please excuse my ignorance.
springhydra56 -- Some of those suggestions you want are already in Algodoo. For example, you can change the color of water to whatever color you want. And concerning other shapes such as triangle, octagon, and others, you can easily make those shapes by cutting a box into the shape you want with the knife tool.
Concerning "fire", some users (including me) have made simulated fire, but the simulations are only an approximation of fire. In other words, we can get close, but most attempts at making something that looks and acts like fire are really not very good.
As far as I know, Algoryx (the company that owns Algodoo and this website) does not plan to make any changes or updates to Algodoo. So, what we have is the only thing we will have forever. That could change down the road, but who knows?
The best place to make suggestions about Algodoo is in the Algodoo FORUM. If you make suggestions in comments like you did, chances are slim that the right people will see them. I do not work for Algoryx and so I have no authority to make any changes or improvements to Algodoo or to Algobox (this website).
hp2hp - If you know how to READ, then read the description. If you do not know how to read, then you cannot understand what I am writing in this comment.
MoBuilds - Maybe you can show your skills on late night TV shows. OR maybe you can go to Las Vegas and make some money with your amazing ability!
Yes, I do not believe that you had bad intentions, but you are a new user, and you probably do not know all of the rules. Many people get very angry when another person copies their scene and then uploads it as if they invented it. Some people refer to that as "stealing someone else's scene". So, before you upload a scene or part of a scene that you copied from another user, you should try to contact that user and ASK them if they would give you permission to do that. If you cannot make contact with that person because it has been many years since they were here on Algobox, then we suggest that you go ahead and use the other person's scene, but BE SURE TO GIVE THEM CREDIT for the part that you copied and used. For example, in the Description for this scene, you would write: "The 3D simulated highway was copied from a scene by user "Nxdt". It is from his scene titled "Space Arcade Shooter".
I get more complaints from people who say that someone "stole" their scene or part of their scene, than any other complaint! It happens all the time, and it sometimes results in very nasty fights.
That's a very good question: What are you doing!!! This is nothing but a picture of a turtle. Can't you make a scene that takes longer than 2 minutes to throw together? Don't be so lazy. Spend some time on your scenes, and make some that you can be proud of, and that others will enjoy using. There are plenty of rubbish scenes on Algobox, so please don't add more rubbish to them.
Algobox is full of bored kids with nothing better to do, and unfortunately, they clutter up this website with garbage scenes of colored stick people and marbles. I wish they would get bored somewhere else.
