wild bill - Concerning video animations with Algodoo, I have uploaded quite a number of scenes which have video animations in them, such as THIS ONE. If you want to see more of them, just click on my user name and check out some of the animated scenes in my archive. Some of them I did back in 2012 when I first started using Algodoo.
@Stormstar- First off, why did you rate this scene a 1? Did you really think that it's all that horrible? Or did you do it because you believe that I wouldn't know that it was you who did it? Just wondering.
I deleted your rating earlier, and so it would not show up now. It clearly showed your user name "Stormstar-" at the number 1 position. Only Admins can see who rates scenes. Non Admins cannot. Yes, it definitely was YOU.
@Stormstar- No worries. I don't hate you! I deleted your #1 rating because I felt that it was not fair to me, and that you just did it because you thought that you could get away with it without me knowing who did it. Keep in mind that there aren't too many things that people can do without an Admin knowing about it. We have some "power" here on Algobox!
Now, getting back to your question, no, I do not know how to upload a separate thumbnail. Check with kilinich. He knows everything about Algodoo and Algobox. You will probably have to contact him via the Personal Messaging system in the Forum.
s_noonan - That copy/pasted list you show is FAKE! I know this because I do not have a drinking buddy. In fact, I do not drink alcohol at all. Nice try.
Oh, and my dog's computer is currently not working. HA!
You give no instruction how to use it! Suggestion: In scenes like this one that require operator input, provide instructions in the scene that explains which keys to press.
"but in all seriousness, this is really cool! Never knew you could play videos like this is Algodoo."
Thanks! Making "good" animated videos with Algodoo actually requires a lot of work, especially if the video is more than a few seconds long. It ends up being a trade-off between length of video and quality of the images. For long videos you cannot have both because the images eat up too much storage space, and therefore the resolution of each image frame must be reduced, which makes the images look grainy. The good news is, the scripts needed to animate a video are rather simple and straightforward (once you learn some basics).
"Also, as for camps and pretty much any static scene, I support you on that, and i'm trying to make us look better by putting work into my scenes. I spent a little less than 3 days to make a small course themed after Sonic the Hedgehog for a marble race, and i'm suprised no one even cared much about it, lol."
I saw that one. You did a good job on it. It was more popular than you think because, so far, it has been posted for less than two weeks, and it was downloaded more than 350 times. Not too bad!
CORRECTION: The marble race I was referring to was "Ultra Marble Race - Legs 16, 17, and 18 - The Finale!" Sorry for the confusion.
First of all, don't confuse Algodoo with Algobox. Algodoo is the physics simulation program that resides and runs on your computer. Algobox is this website that allows uploading, storing, and downloading scenes that were made using Algodoo.
"Views" is the number of times someone (except the creator) looks at the scene page, but a scene can be downloaded directly from the start or search page.
That's what I figured.... NOTHING! You don't have a clue what comes next because all you wanted was to have some kids leave comments so that you can chat with them. You were just begging for comments, right?
Well, here is some news for you.... Algodoo is not a chat room, and we do not want it to turn into one. So, stop begging for comments, and maybe post a scene that actually does something.
It's not about being good or bad at sign ups. It's about your reason for having sign-ups in the first place. If all you wanted to do was to chat with other kids in the comments, then Algobox is not the place to do that. There are many other web sites that you can go to and chat with others all day and night if you want to. But not here. Algobox is only for making scenes with Algodoo, and then sharing those scenes with others. Algobox is not a social meeting place like Facebook or other similar web sites.
I think that no one wants to sign up because they have no idea what happens after they do! You still have not explained how your game works. Do YOU have any idea what happens next? If you do, then explain it to me and to the rest of the Algodoo community. If you don't, then be honest and tell me why you are posting scenes that request sign-ups with nothing else planned for them.
By the way, I deleted your previous scene because I felt that you were being sarcastic and disrespectful to me in your comments. I am an adult and an Admin here on Algodoo, so be careful what you say and how you say it. I can delete scenes and comments, and I can ban users if they break the rules.
Nice job! I always liked the original version of the movie. Not so much the remake.
If you wanted to spend more time on this scene, a suggestion would be to provide some "food" (blood) for Audrey Jr.(or Audrey II in the remake) that users could feed it.
@Kidest Araya -- You uploaded a scene titled "For mariofan5", and then NINE MINUTES later you uploaded an exact copy of the same scene! That cannot happen by itself. YOU are doing it for some reason. I see that you deleted the copy, but you need to figure out WHY this is happening and how to stop it. I looked through all of your older scenes, and you seem to have a habit of doing that. You'd better figure out what is causing your scenes to be uploaded twice because if it continues you could get banned from Algobox for spamming.
@Kidest Araya -- In response to your question, "How do you delete scenes completely?", I think you are referring to the fact that when a user deletes their own scene, it no longer gets displayed on the Algobox list of scenes, but you can still see the scene in your own personal list of scenes when you click on your own user name. If that's what you are referring to, here is why it works that way. When you delete a scene, it really does not get deleted from the Algobox web site, but it simply gets tagged as located in the "Deleted" group of scenes. It was done that way so that if a user who deletes a scene by mistake, he/she can "undelete it" which then brings it out of the "Deleted" group, and puts it back into the "Default" or "Marble Race" group where all other users can see it.
Any Admin can view ALL deleted files in the "deleted" group, but non-Admin users can only view their own deleted scenes that are in the "deleted" group. That is why any Admin can "undelete" any scene in the "deleted" group.
What is so special about colored balls? Algodoo users have been making colored balls since the first day that Algodoo was released in 2009, almost ten years ago!
