MUCH better:tup: Looks realy cool and runs well
1st sugestion: hinge the spawn circles to the structure instead of fixtating them,
this will prevent a solid collision that robs power!
2nd sugestion: select all the fixtates and move them to the back, will just look better.
3rd sugestion: make separate "crankpins" for the red and green cylinders 180 degrees apart, this will create a very ballanced assembly, this realy comes into play if you mount your engine in a vehicle:rolleyes:
Keep up the good work and thanks for giving me credit for helping:angel:
Yep thats the idea, isnt Google wonderfull
That will make the engine perfectly balanced:cool:
Carefull you are learning:lol:
The brake is on when the scene starts. Had to dig to find it  you need to fix that! You can edit the scene and replace the file with a new one if you didn't know.
The function of a flywheel is to smooth out the power pulses and most real engines have one. You are right, the higher the density of the flywheel the smoother the engine will run but the slower it will accellerate.
Good things in this build: much more reasonable size and not stuck to the background:tup:
A few things that will help you further:
1: select the whole engine and go to the script menue and set the air friction to 0
2: to help prevent the pistons from turning sideways or flipping over move the
"wrist pin" , this is the hinge that connects the piston to the connecting rod, up to closer to the center of the piston vs down at the bottom;)
3: this is the tough one devise a mechanism that will ensure that the circles spawn
ATDC = after top dead center. This will make the engine only "want" to run one direction but it will be more powerfull and reliable;)
Great work so far but I know you are going to do even better:tup:
PS 10/10 for improving
No problem man, I truly love engines and helping people learn about them!
Please search "gent" and look at and take apart some of my stuff, rate if you want:lol:
Algodoo is fundamentaly made for education and any day I dont learn something is wasted:cool:
Looks pretty good but the cams need to turn at 1/2 crankshaft speed.

7/10 for looks and trying
Aw its not that hard:) Here is one way to do it:

PS your engine runs very well now but can still be improved.
You have a lot of stuff thats more complex than this:tup:

Check out the throttle mechanisim in this scene:
http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=32457

Its totaly mechanical and varies both the timing and the number of balls that get spawned, I believe its the most throttleable spawn engine in Algodoo:cool:

I'm not trying to hijack your thread Fruitmonger just give you some ideas!

Super cool scene and track:tup:

10/10
Very interesting
enormous but has impressive rate of fire:tup:
The script god_o_
Cool I would also like to see the original engine I bet its insanely powerful:tup:
Very COOL as always you amaze me   _o_
Sorry I missed this one when it was first posted it works very well:tup:
Cool and amazing as usual 10/10
Could you explain the distant hinge thing, like how to do it?
I have seen how it can completely eliminate conecting rods in a reciprocating type engine in one example you have shared. I like to make realistic looking educational engines but hinge stretch realy hurts the performance and I think you could use the distant hinge concept to transmit the real power and make the realistic looking parts not realy carry any load, thinking out loud:rolleyes:
Cool game  10/10
its HUGE and weighs TONS also very slow but I gave you 8/10 for trying:tup:
Sorry but the engine isnt making any power to speak of at all:unsure:
If you delete the killer plane to the left and just let it run it keeps slowing down.
It goes almost as far if you delete the main piston spring, so its just the mass of the flywheel thats doing the pulling:blink:
I'm not trying to discourage you but you need to work on this:cool:
A truly good engine will speed up after being started with a slow speed starter:rolleyes:
I'm using Algodoo so it may work different in Phun
PS the grid in Algodoo will let you make all the stuff run concentric

Cool I love making engines in Phun/Algodoo and I will be glad to help you:cool:
Here is all my stuff:

Easier to just search Gent;)
I know this comment is late but this is verry nicely done definite 10/10:tup:
Thanks Corpsegrinder!!
Nice explanation of the Sterling cycle
Verry Nice
UNBELIEVABLE 1000000/10 _o_
1000000/10 _o_
This is great!!! _o_ 10/10 Should be able to make awsome flying things with this!!
This is verry cool _o_ should be great for breakable/deformable things   10 of course _o_
Great I loved the cargo bridge game  You should make a challenge based on these parts 10/10
