Yeah, that makes sense. I've had many problems with Algodoo axles in many different applications, and I often ended up having to switch them to legacy mode (don't recall if it's zero or one) in order to keep them from freaking out. That's one of the things that I wish Emil would have fixed before bailing out of Algoryx. The other thing on my Algodoo "complaint list" is the fact that you cannot write directly to an indexed array element (scene.my.array(35) = 3.14, for example). Oh well, thank God there's a work-around for that!
Here's why we don't allow users to chat with each other in scenes:
Examples:
user Marble_Kid uploads a scene with text that says: "Hey Ultra, how many poses can I pick in your Token Riot Camp?"
Ultra replies by uploading a scene with a message: "Hey Marble_Kid, you can pick up to five colors and five poses".
Marble_Kid uploads another message scene: "That's not fair, Ultra! You let Camp_Kid pick SEVEN colors! OMG!"
So, you see where this is going? If we allow that sort of silly nonsense chatting in scenes, then Algobox would get even more cluttered with junk scenes than it already is. The rule is not "a bit strict", it's a lot necessary!
BlueKazoo -- Yeah, things aren't perfect, but we try to make the best of what we have to work with. Thanks for your comment.
Chipej17 -- Algoryx (the company that owns Algodoo and Algobox) has no plans in the near future for updating either one. In the long term, that may change.
Thanks
For the benefit of those who do not understand the concept of asking permission versus giving credit, I like to use the following example situation which helps to make them understand the difference:
Let's say you take your neighbor's car for a joy ride without his permission. While you are driving around the city, you yell out the window, "Credit to my neighbor, mister Smith who owns this car!". When the police catch you and arrest you, you say to them, "I thought it was Okay to take his car because I gave him credit while I was driving it!".
This story is of course rather silly, but whether you take someone's car or someone's Algodoo scene, the concept of asking permission before taking someone else's property is exactly the same.
By the way, this wasn't the first time I've posted this type of message scene about not copying without permission. If you go back through the archives, you would see at least two or three other times over the past few years that I have posted that message. The new people need to be informed, and the older people need to be reminded.
What glitch?
You wrote: "THIS A GLITCH WHEN A UPLOAD A FILE ITS COPY MY SO YA I WONT BUILD ANYMORE". That makes absolutely no sense. Your sentences are run together, and you use no punctuation marks. Could you please write proper English so that people can understand what you are asking? If we can understand what you are asking, then maybe we could help you!
Stormstar- Nothing "summons" the planes. Each plane has its own script that generates the motion:
_posX = _posX + _speed
and included in the postStep event is the script that checks if the plane is at the left edge or right edge of the scenery. If it is, then the plane's position gets reset to either the left or right edge (depending on its direction) and then the motion script shown above continues the plane's motion. Simple!
My scene will do what you want it to do but it requires a lot of script coding. If you do not understand Thyme scripting, then this may not be of any use to you: Laser Hit And Miss
You are seeking comments because you are lonely or bored. Right? Well, that's not what Algobox was created for. This is not a chat room and we do not want it to turn into one. So, in the future, please do not post scenes that are only for the purpose of generating comments from other users. If all you want to do is chat with others, there are plenty of other websites where you can chat with other people all day long.
Not boring to me at all! I love this type of technical scene because I learn from it. Nice job.
The scene was very well designed, and even though much of that esoteric mechanical engineering jargon is outside of my scope of knowledge and experience, it is still very interesting to me. I rated it a TEN.
Basically it says that I will no longer chase down scenes or parts of scenes because there are too many complex issues concerning who owns what. With all of the copying, uploading, and claims, it is almost impossible to determine who is the original owner of the material. That's why I no longer waste my time with this stuff. I leave it up to the users to work it out amongst each other.
Well, I'm afraid you will be gone for a very long time because Algoryx (the company that owns Algodoo and Algobox) will not stop marble races, camps, and algodecathlon (or whatever they are called). I don't like those childish scenes either, but I don't make the rules. My job is to enforce the rules. Maybe things will change and improve later down the road, but for now, it is what it is.
Good luck!
Stormstar- Using all caps and/or exclamation points (yes, that's what those ! are called) is not a reportable offense. There is nothing in the rules that say comments must be in lower case letters and must not contain a bunch of exclamation points. So, settle down, take a few deep breaths, and count to ten. These camps are nothing to get excited about. They are just little games, and nothing more.
Well, it certainly isn't anything to get upset about. If all caps bothers you, then just move along to some other scene. I'm not going to ban someone for using all caps in their comments. I would have to ban about a thousand people if that was a rule!
Not a glitch. Those circles act erratic because YOU forced them into that condition by sandwiching them in between two invisible planes. If you move the planes away from the circles, they will no longer act erratic.
I agree with Algodooper, although I would say what he said a little differently. My guess is you probably got into
a lot of fights and arguments on other websites because you don't know how to relate to other people. I suspect that you were very unhappy at every place you went to because you find it difficult to get along with others. Am I right about that? Now that you are new here on Algodoo, you assume that others will dislike you or will say hurtful things to you. Well, YES they will because of how you started out talking to them! No one likes being told that they can only talk a certain way, or that they must be careful about what they say to you. That is known as "walking on eggshells".
You started out by warning people to be very careful about what they say to you, and that is like walking on eggshells. They have to walk very carefully so that they don't break any eggshells! When you do that, it makes people very
defensive, and many of them will even avoid you!
My best advice to you is to NOT tell people how sensitive you are to criticism. Just be a nice friendly person and play
by the rules. If you do those things, you will very likely make friends here, and no one will say hurtful things to you.
I suggest that you delete your first two scenes in which you started out stirring up trouble, and just start over.
If you don't know how to delete your scenes, just ask me to do it for you by leaving a comment here. I would be happy to do that for you.
When you post a new scene, tell people what type of games or contests that you are interested in, and just join in the fun.
It's that easy!
