tomskiwomski - Really? I had no idea that "bugger" is a profane word in the UK. Here in the US, I understand it to mean someone who bugs (or bothers) another person. Well, now, that raises an interesting question, and also complicates how the rules are interpreted. What I am thinking is, how in the world can someone know if a particular word is considered profanity in another part of the world, and what, if anything, should be done (by me or other Admins) about it? I certainly don't want to offend anyone, and it is easy enough to delete or edit the offensive word (which I will do). In the future, I think that it would work well if someone (like you) reports a word which might be offensive in another part of the world, and I will deal with it on an individual basis. That, I think, would be the best approach until someone comes up with a better idea for handling this kind of situation.
Thanks for the "heads up" (I hope that's not a profane thing to say!).
springhydra56 - In the future, please use proper spelling and grammar when posting comments. I hardly understood what you were trying to tell me.
tomski - Sure, but those words are considered profanity in the country of East Hastenville in the territory of Yang Su province off the coast of South Quie Yu Ming. Sorry, I'll have to delete it because it offended a turkey farmer who spends most of his time planting coconut eggs while feeding his herd.
I think the biggest problem with guns made in Algodoo is the fact that most scenes (including this one) are not drawn to scale. For example, I measured one of the bullets, and it weighs 3.9 Kg (about 8.5 pounds, for you people in the U.S.)! And it is 60 cm (over 2 inches)long by 25 cm (1 inch) diameter! A bullet that large and that heavy cannot possibly behave like a rifle or pistol bullet in real life. I did not measure other parts of the guns in this scene, but I'm sure that they are also way out of what is considered a normal range for real life guns. Because of that, Algodoo physics cannot possibly behave as they would in real life. And, on top of that, a true gas-operated mechanism cannot be duplicated in Algodoo, and so people try to guess at how gasses would behave by making mechanical devices with levers and springs, which cannot come even close to real gas under pressure. Therefore, people can only do a rough approximation of a real gun, but in most cases, the physics are way off the charts.
Legit - Of course it's just an illusion! You cannot create an actual 3D image on a 2D display. You can only create an image which tricks the brain into thinking that it's really 3D. I think that most people with even half a brain understand that.
Nice job on this cannon, fruitmonger! It's a little tricky to load (it took me a long time to figure out how to do it without spilling the powder all over the ground), but once I got it, I can load it much faster now.
It's good to see that there are some "old timers" still around from the early days of Phun and when Algodoo was being developed. As you know, Algobox was a lot different back then, and in my opinion, much more enjoyable for us "tech" types because it wasn't overrun with kindergarten children like it is now.
In regards to your question about a time-lapse video, YES! I think that would be fun, educational and quite interesting. So, you have MY vote!
I didn't mean that you are "old" like an old man (I had no idea how old you were). I just meant that you have been here since the early days (2009) when Algobox was started. That makes you an old-timer!
I see that the kid has a "Vroom" motor mounted on his front axle, but it can't work without spokes! When I was his age, I used a four of clubs held on with a wooden clothespin as my Vroom motor.
Yup, it's called "Edit". Just modify the scene on your computer and save it. Then click on the "Edit" tab near the top of this page and upload the modified (edited) scene. You don't need to change the title or the description unless you want to.
Oh, by the way, you can only edit a scene if you use a browser such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox, etc. but you cannot edit a scene if you use the Algodoo built-in browser. In that case you must upload the modified scene as a new scene, and then you can delete the old one.
Yes, it's exactly like learning a new language. Feels awkward at first, but after long hours of practice, it becomes much easier. Any language, or any other thing for that matter, is easier to learn if you take the mindset that it's fun. Then it becomes less of a chore, and more like play time!
Just letting you know that medrick367 has been banned, and so you do not need to worry about him copying and uploading your scenes any more. He copied and uploaded other people's scenes too. Some people just never learn. I hate to ban anyone, but when they refuse to stop their bad behavior, then they must be stopped by me!
Thanks for reporting him. That's the only way I could know that there's a problem!
calvin1390 - YOU said the bad word while complaining about me saying the bad word!
Anyhow, I hate to burst your bubble, but "crap" is not considered profanity. Granted, it's not a word that a priest would use during a Sunday morning sermon, but it's not one of those really really bad ones (I can't list them here without violating the rule by listing them!).
If you want to know for certain what those "dirty" words are, just do a search on YouTube for "George Carlin - 7 dirty words", and prepare to laugh your head off!
Suggestion: When displaying a technical scene such as this one, disable the Algodoo clouds. Clouds are not necessary in a scene like this one, and they can even cause confusion while floating past a moving mechanical device.
To disable clouds -- Right click anywhere on the background. Uncheck the box labeled "Draw clouds".
Hello Thebluegamer --- I am "Xray", one of the Admins here on Algobox. I spend more time here than the other Admins, and so if you have questions about Algodoo (the physics simulation program which runs on your computer), or about Algobox (this website which allows users to upload and download scenes made with Algodoo), you can contact me by leaving a comment on any one of my own scenes, or if it involves another user breaking the rules, you can send me a Report using the "Report" link near the top of the scene or comment in question.
Recently, you sent a Report in which you wrote: "Ive Joined This Year But Why
Does My Thing Says A Warning Thing". I was totally confused by that because I do not know what your "thing" is, and I do not know what a "warning thing" is. I can only guess that one of the other Admins deleted your first scene (what you call a "game") and sent you a warning about it. If that's what happened, then you should be able to read the warning that the Admin sent you. Again I am guessing, but it probably has something to do with your scene being in the form of a personal message which we do not allow. Algobox is not a chat room and we do not want it to turn into one. So please do not post personal messages to other users in scenes. If you do, then it will get deleted and you will get a warning. Too many warnings and you will risk getting banned. The Report link should only be used for reporting other users who violate the rules, such as if they use profanity (cuss words) in their scene or in their comments, or if they threaten another user, and those sorts of things.
As long as everyone plays by the rules, we can all enjoy this wonderful website and this awesome physics simulation program called Algodoo!
Thebluegamer - You are not starting out very well as a new user because you registered TWO different user names. Your other name "Hastagtdm" was banned, and if you register any more user names, then "Thebluegamer" name will also be banned, along with any other names that you register.
Shame on you! When you register, you agree to register only one user name, but you violated that rule. We do not want cheaters on Algobox who register more than one user name so that they can improve their scene ranking by giving themselves high rating values. This is your one an only chance to do the right thing and play by the rules.
Don't tell me "it's not fair" when YOU are the one who broke the rule which states that you cannot have more than one user account!
Anyhow, you should still be able to post scenes. By the way, they are called "scenes" not games. That's because not all scenes are games. Only some of them are.
Go ahead and make another scene and try to upload it. It should work now....
