I never "yell". <_<
@Flashpoint -- I need more information and proof of your claim. So, please give me the title of your scene that you claim he copied. If I determine that he copied your wheel, then I will delete his scene and give him a warning. You can give me that information right here in comments.

Thanks,

Xray, Algodoo Admin

yusril -- What do you mean by that? :s :bonk:
Question: You said "change collision group of the polygon it's attached to to C", but the laser is attached to a BOX, not a polygon. Is that Okay? Or did you really want the laser attached to a polygon?
There's another way to skin the cat! See my response scene.....
OOPS! You're right! I'll see if I can fix it.

Thanks!
Okay, I fixed it with a counter. Thanks again for catching that! :)

tomskiwomski -- No need to be terrified of script! It's just another method of controlling how your scene will look and operate. And there's nothing "magical" about it. Think of it like a shopping list that your wife or girlfriend gives you. Sort of like this:
1. Go to grocery store.
2. Buy one carton of eggs and a loaf of bread.
3. Go to carwash. Wash car.
4. Do not stop at tavern to drink.
5. Go home. Kiss wife/girlfriend and tell her how nice she looks.

My point is that script is nothing more than a sequential list of instructions that tell Algodoo components what to do and how to do it. If you make a mistake in the coding, the scene will not work as expected, but nothing bad will happen to you. YOU are the master of what your scene does, and not the other way around! Programming with Thyme script is also FUN. I always enjoy seeing the results of a scene that I've spent many hours or many days (sometimes weeks) planning, coding, and debugging, and then showing it off to others on ALgobox! When you first start to learn how to write script, your programs will be simple and buggy. But that's how you learn. Like learning a foreign language, it's difficult and it feels awkward until you work with it long enough, then it becomes much easier and more natural.

Try it!
s_noonan - At least you lived long enough to post a comment saying you forgot to bend over!
Nothing happens. :s
No it does not. The white thing (I assume that's the paper) is glued to the background, and so it cannot move). Explain HOW you made it work.
Now it works because you unglued the paper from the background!! :o

LOL!

You're welcome.
I don't know what that means. :bonk:
That's a stupid question. (no offense)

Instead of asking me such a dumb question, why don't you simply explain what you mean? When you say, "you have also been given a creature", WHAT creature??? and then you say, "for acception to join eXtinction". What the heck does that mean???? Is that something from a video game that children play? :s If so, I'm an adult who does not play children's games, so that may be why I don't understand your comment.

alasmyfoe - What is a "TWOW"? :s
Well, in that case, no thanks. I don't like those childish camp scenes. I use Algodoo for making dynamic scenes that utilize physics simulations of the program. Most of those "camp" scenes are static (non moving) cartoon figures. I have no interest in that sort of thing.

Bye
I tried everything that I can think of to prevent the rocket from bending over, and nothing worked except to use "glue together". Here's how: Right click on the rocket (which will select the entire rocket), then hover down to "Geometry Actions", and then left click on "Glue Together". That will keep the entire rocket from bending over. That is the ONLY thing that worked for me.

An easy way to make an object delete is to give "TimeToLive" a value of zero when the object gets hit by a laser.
For example: onHitByLaser (e) => {timeToLive = 0}
Log in to the Algodoo FORUM and go to the heading labeled "Thyme Scripting". That's a good starting point. There is a ton of good information there. You can also ask questions, but before asking basic questions, first do your own research to try to find what you are looking for. Then experiment with your own basic scenes so that you will learn what some of the basic commands do. As I mentioned before, it will seem awkward at first, but once you start using script and realizing how much more power you will have with it, you will always want to use it in all of your scenes!
Don't mind me, I just got bored too.
s_noonan - It appears that MoBuilds used "spongify" on the entire rocket which resulted in producing 108 hinges! So, how will your script fix the problem? Are you suggesting that he add a hinge at every articulated joint?
You're welcome!
Not interested in kid scenes. Sorry.
Oh, that makes sense. So the "Scene.addHinge" is not correct, right? You are not suggesting that he add any hinges, you are just adjusting the existing hinge's parameters. If this is not correct, please explain. Otherwise, he is good to go!

Thanks for your help.
You did not state WHERE the delivery must be made! There is no destination point in the scene, and so no one knows where to deliver the goods to! ;)
Hi Phil -
Actually, Emanuel Dahlberg, an employee of Algoryx (the company that owns Algodoo and Algobox) makes the rules, not us Admins. We only enforce the rules. Concerning text scenes, they used to be not allowed, but Emanuel made it clear to us Admins that text only scenes are allowed as long as they are used for making announcements to all users (For example, a user will be gone on vacation for a period of time and he/she wants to let his friends know about it. OR a user might announce the start of a new contest or challenge). The type of text scenes that we do NOT allow is user-to-user chat. For example, we do not allow text scenes like: "Hey Ultra, How do you like my color blue?", and that sort of nonsense.

Secondly, your text is difficult to read because you made it on the maximum zoom level, and so readers cannot zoom out any more in order to reduce the size of the message. The way it is now, I had to use the Move tool to hold the text box and move it from side to side in order to read your message.

Thirdly, your message is too complex for children to read, which is really who the message should be addressed to. It is also too verbose. When sending a text message to children, it must be simple to read (about 2nd or 3rd grade level) and not be too long. Otherwise they WILL NOT BOTHER TO READ IT.

Forthly, I doubt very much that Emanuel will make any further changes to Algobox. As you most likely know, it took him a very long time just to make the few changes that were recently made to the filter system. There are MANY changes that I would like to see, and I have made my suggestions directly to him, but he has neither the time nor the funds to make those badly needed changes. His recent changes helped to some degree, but they are far from ideal (in my opinion). But we are stuck with it for now, and probably into the foreseeable future.

Lastly, You are one of the remaining "technical" people who make excellent dynamic scenes, and I for one HOPE that you will not leave Algobox.

Finally, a word about Algobox history. During the early days of Algodoo development, Algobox (this website) was mostly visited by teens and young adults (with a few "old timers" like kilinich, s_noonan, wild bill, and many other older but very talented people). Within the past 4 or 5 years after Algodoo was given out for FREE, the young kids started coming to Algobox. Now, the site is overrun with very young children who can only make and post very simple, non-moving scenes. They basically use Algodoo like MS Paint. And they made various games that use their simple scenes, such as Athlons and camps. Of course, adults do not like to interact with children, and that is the main reason why so many talented adults and older teens have left Algobox. I equate to the fact that adults and children cannot "play" in the same sandbox together. It just ain't natural!

I whish there was a way that Algobox could be separated into two different sections. One for children and new users, and the other for experienced or "technical" users. Emanuel does not like that idea, and so it will not happen. :/

Enough rambling for now, but this is pretty much the situation as I see it.

Again, I truly hope that you will stick around and keep posting awesome scenes! But you of course must do what you feel is best for you.

Xray

Bluebusters22 - Please do not report people again because they hate your favorite color! Only report people who violate the Algodoo Terms of Service, which include the use of profanity (dirty words) or when someone threatens you with bodily harm.

Thanks
Thanks again for your help!
