Algodoo does a very good job of static force analysis except for this one case where it fails. I'm fairly that certain every Algodoo user is concerned about this.
P.S. I think I might see what's going on with the bars glued to the background. If no net force in the x direction, then no friction force (like a box sitting on a horizontal plane). The two bars glued to the background act like a single object. Friction force must enter into the calculation else the 3.99 N would be much higher (7.39 N). I still can't figure out how the 3.99 N value is determined. |
