Thanks to FRA32 and Little, hearing the real sounds from Algodoo is possible!

We've been putting together a synthesizer that can generate simple sounds, but we've also been playing with my old Pseudomicrophone with some modifications, and producing the first ever sounds from Algodoo. This scene is a demonstration of the concept.

Details in scene.

User s_noonan already produced Algosound back in 2017:

Algosound

If I recall there were 3 or 4 scenes that were uploaded with examples of his sound generator. It works very well. Check it out!
I think this is entirely different. This writeToFile system generates unique sound files if used correctly. It could turn motion from my pseudomicrophone into an actual sound file, though I've done that and it's not especially interesting sounding. But it's actual sound generated from the physics engine! I looked at that scene you shared, and it looks like it plays preloaded audio files. This generates them in a way I haven't ever seen before!

That sounds interesting! I'll definitely check it out especially when you have it debugged and working correctly.
I followed your instructions and found one minor error in it. Paragraph 10: Says, "...select the file named "Sound-From-Algodoo". Actually the filename is: "Audio-From-Algodoo". Other than that, it did work. I heard that raspy-sounding tone!
Ah, thanks for catching that. I fixed it.
I figured out another way to create sound from Algodoo that you might want to experiment with. I used an interesting app called "PhonoPaper". The app creates sounds when your cellphone camera scans a black and white image on paper or on a computer monitor. So, I got the idea of using a geometry, such as a box or circle, to trigger the app via the phone camera. As a test, I made a very simple scene of a bouncing ball. Each time the ball bounced off the ground (a plane) the collision would turn the box white for just a fraction of a second and then black again. That quick flash was picked up by my camera which was sitting about a meter from my computer monitor, and focused on the flashing box. Each flash would create a weird sound in my phone speaker. I quickly realized that there is a significant delay from the collision to the sound the app makes, and so I had to add a delay of about 200 to 300 mS. This method is very limited and would require a lot of experimenting and development before it would be acceptable (if it can be done at all!). Even if you don't use the app PhonoPaper for Algosound, I think you would find the app interesting just to play around with it.
I played around with that app a bit, and I think it's really cool! If only they let you pick spectrum colors so you could listen to differently colored graphs, like the ones on Google images.
That's a great idea. Maybe suggest that to the author?
This is awesome.
