Well, actually, I do have more to say about it. I too am interested in 3D type scenes in Algodoo, and I have made a few of them myself. And so I know how challenging to design they can be. This scene is quite interesting. It took me a while to understand how to play the game and how to use the control keys, but soon I was navigating around the maze fairly well.
I think that a nice addition to this scene would be a small map (sort of like a heads-up display) that lets you know where you have been. I don't know how difficult that would be to program, but I believe that it would be a nice feature.
I will subscribe to you as soon as I'm done with this comment.
Keep up the great work!
Well, since austin9700 hasn't responded, I can't know for certain, but based on his statement, "I didn't glue the circles to the background", I assume he is referring to the fact that the circles are not falling down as they normally would unless they were glued to the background. But there is another reason why they won't fall, and that is, he has gravity disabled. As soon as I enabled gravity, the balls began to fall as they should. So, unless he replies and says that it's something else, I'll bet that his "glitch" is simply an oversight on his part.
Unchecking clouds would reduce the number of clouds. And it would be even more frustrating for someone if you put the fake clouds on a different layer where the user would not be able to select them. An inexperienced Algodoo'er would probably go nuts trying to figure out why the clouds are acting so strangely.
Go ahead and make a prank scene if you feel up to it. If done well, it could be hilarious! (unfortunately, we won't be able to see the frustrated looks on people's faces when they try to deal with it!)
chemist - DARN IT!!! I forgot about those stupid clouds! But hey, just assume the clouds are not there because they really have nothing to do with the puzzle.
Thanks, and GOOD EYE!
s_noonan - Not quite. He is listed with the KGB, and they want to give him a vacation in Siberia.
lololoer - I already knew how to do that, but people sometimes get upset when you prevent them from being able to edit the scene. So, I decided not to do that just to keep people happy.
Overall good job! The textures look good and the hydraulics have realistic looking motion. There's only one thing that falls short of being awesome, and that is the track. It should move when the excavator is commanded to move.
The scene may appear to be simple if you just count the number of objects in it, but the script that makes the numbers scroll with the proper timing and sequencing was rather tricky to do. It took me quite some time to figure out how to do it, and then to debug it.
I'm really happy to see a new user here on Algobox who has a good handle on programming, 3D graphics, and game design. Many of the guys who are really good programmers have left the site for various reasons, and now it's refreshing to see some new blood creating some awesome scenes! I hope you will stick around for a LOOOOONG time!
