How can anyone "get it right" when you are not specific about which things in your scene that you made? Obviously you didn't make any of those cartoon characters, which means that they do not belong to you, which means that you stole them from someone else or from some web site. So, that pretty much leaves the white box with the number 3 in it. That probably does belong to you. So, are you going to tell everyone which things in this scene that YOU specifically made?
Yes, I have seen some of your other videos, and they are very impressive. Because you are so good at it, you could probably make some money if you wanted to work it as a business. When other people see your work, I'm sure that they will want to pay you to make videos for their projects. You are awesome!
Just a couple of minor suggestions: 1. Disable those annoying Algodoo clouds. It doesn't make sense to have clouds rolling by in a technical scene. 2. You can have playmode automatically toggle on and off with the simulation like this: In upDate in any geometry place this script: {app.gui.playMode = sim.running} Then you would have no need for a button to click on.
Overall, Nice job!
Edit: Oh, one more tip. I always change the Font Resolution to 128 in any geometry which is displaying text (alpha or numeric). The parameter is located in the Text menu. Try it, and you will see how much better the text looks with finer detail.
@TShrepel85 -- Hi, just wondering if you are still active here on Algobox. You haven't done anything more to this pinball game in a long time, and so I was wondering if you still needed some help with it. There are a few errors that I see which I can help you correct, and also there's the issue of heavy cpu usage because of that large yellow ball of lasers. Just get back to me here in the comments if you would like some help with this. I have posted quite a few pinball machines here, and so I have some experience in that area.
Yeah, unfortunately, there aren't too many of us "technical guys" still here on Algobox. I don't think I can count on one hand the guys who still make interesting dynamic scenes that demonstrate Algodoo's exceptional physics simulation tools. I'm hoping that some of the guys who left will return if they see that a few of us die hard Algodoo junkies are still around. The lines have been cast, and the bait is still alive!
Ummmm.... I hope that you will post some instructions that explain how to control the cue, and how to aim it, etc. I tried to use it like a regular game of pool, but the cue stick starts to spin around after I grab it and try to aim. It's impossible to play unless you know of some secret to how to properly do it.
Not true, MasterGamer. Many people know how to script. It's just that most of the kids who use Algobox for camps and marble races do not want to bother to learn new things because they think that it's too hard. Learning to script is just like learning a new language. It will seem awkward and difficult at first, but with practice and time, it will become easier and more natural.
If you keep doing it, OriginalName, over time you WILL become addicted. But another, even more serious problem that comes along with smoking are the health issues. Cigarette smoke damages lung tissue, and other chemicals in the tobacco cause damage to the heart and to other vital organs. If you ever want to compete in sports, then I suggest that you quit smoking NOW, and never think about it again. You may think that you look "cool" to your friends by smoking cigarettes, but believe me, it makes a person look really STUPID. I smoked during my high school years because I thought that it made me "fit in" with my friends who were also smoking. Now, as an adult, I have a disease known as C.O.P.D. which my doctor told me was caused by smoking during my younger years. Trust me, it just isn't worth the trouble it will cause later in life. Quit now while you are still young BEFORE it does any more damage to your lungs and heart.
Yes, you can learn from my bad decision. I hope I save you from the health problems that I now have due to smoking during my younger days. Don't make a bad choice like I did!
Well, even without Homer, this scene is really cool. How do you come up with these ideas? I mean, you're just an ME, and this scene doesn't have any gears in it.
Banned? Who said anything about banned? I just was asking about your confusing scene. What does it do, and how is a person supposed to use it? It doesn't make any sense.
I played around with your scene a bit and came up with a couple of ideas that you might consider adding to it as follows:
1. Provide a selection of "trigger" entities such as, 1. The mouse cursor (default), 2. One or more "scene.my.whatever_pos". With more triggers, a user has options to use either the mouse cursor, or to use some geometry pos. One caveat, and that is when there are more than a few items in the scene with your added code in them, the computer (mine) starts to lag very quickly with increased numbers.
2. Provide a choice of colors for the "hover" and the "non-hover" pos trigger.
3. Maybe provide a place to add personal code for the person who would rather have something else happen when triggered rather than a simple color change.
I'm sure I could think up more things for you to do, but that's enough for now! LOL
By the way, since you have such an unusual user name, I did some checking and found that you have registered under two accounts, this one and "YBom06". So, while reporting someone who violated our rules, it turns out that YOU also violated the rules! Now, you have a choice. Choose which user name that you want me to ban (user_unknown or YBom06), and I will take care of that. If I do not hear from you within a couple of days, then I will choose which one will get banned.
It seems like you have little interest in Algodoo or Algobox because you have not uploaded any scenes under this user name, and you stopped posting scenes under your other user name about a year ago. About all you do is leave comments as if Algobox were a chat room (which is isn't). Well, that's your choice. We do not have a rule that says you must upload scenes after you register. It's just kind of odd when people register here and never post any scenes. I mean, what's the point?
I discovered an interesting effect after injecting the color changing code into the star. Using the knife tool, I cut the star into 7 or 8 ribbons, and then I ran my cursor over the ribbons. Cool effect, but you can't cut a polygon into too many pieces because of the lag issue which increases with the number of geoms that contain your code.
Sometimes, when you are bored, it's best to do nothing at all, rather than to post a junky scene just because you felt that you needed to post something. People remember your bad scenes more often than they remember your good ones. So, here is some good advice for you. Take some time to plan your scenes, and work hard to make each and every one the best scene that you can make. Then you will be remembered as the Algodoo user who posts awesome scenes.
There's a big difference between "simple" and "junky". Simple scene can be great or awesome scenes, but junky scenes will always be junky.
I'm not suggesting that YOUR scenes are junky. No, not at all. I'm just saying that it's better to not post any scenes at all when you are bored than to post junky scenes just because you feel that you need to post SOMETHING. That's all!
