No problem, Vinayak! I guess I did miss the joke/sarcasm that was behind your comments. I go up against all kinds of people here on Algobox, some with the I.Q. of a potato, and some with a PhD in physics, and everything in between. Therefore, it's not always obvious who is being rude and sarcastic, as apposed to who is just making a fun joke. Sometimes I get it right, and sometimes I miss it completely! LOL
Okay, but I think it might be confusing when people expect to see a video about PID control theory, and they see a video of a running cheetah. That's why when I began watching the video I thought that you made a mistake!
Also, I think that most people here on Algobox do not read Japanese, and so it would be better to remake the PID video with English sub-titles, or make it totally in English.
mori-d has been making these awesome lifelike walking and running animal scenes since 2009. He is one of the most creative and talented people we have here on Algobox.
Hey wild bill.... I sure do miss you, kilinich, karatebrot, and all the other "old timers" who used to post a lot of excellent scenes here on Algobox. For the past few years, Algobox has turned into a kindergarten where little children post static scenes of colorful stickmen. There are still a few "technical" guys here like s_noonan, myself, and a handful of others, but if the trend continues, there won't be any of us left, and Algobox will be totally overrun with toddlers and grade school kids.
Why do you keep posting the same scene over and over again? People are starting to complain about you spamming Algobox.
Rather than post a new scene each time someone signs up, just EDIT the original scene. That way you will post only ONE version of this scene instead of 5 or 6 or more!
Mits.... Ultragamer564 was banned permanently, so no, he is not coming back. Please don't ask me any more questions about him.
Concerning "algocards" or "algodollars" or any of those other things that were invented by users. Those things are not what Algobox was intended for. Some people even want to make Algobox into a chat room, but that isn't going to happen as long as I am Admin. People want to make Algobox into a different kind of website than what it originally was intended to be, and I cannot allow that.
This is not a bullet. It is known as a "cartridge". Most people who know little to nothing about guns learn only what they see in movies or on television. For those who never had any training in firearms, a cartridge is the complete assembly of components consisting of the casing, the primer, the propellant (also called gunpowder), and finally the projectile (also called the bullet).
Too much LAG! One trick you can do to reduce the lag is to freeze all the water, then cut off a strip along the top of the blue polygon (frozen water). Depending on how deep the actual water needs to be for your scene, you make it as thin as 10 percent wide or as thick as 50 percent wide or wider. After you cut the thickness of water that you need, then liquefy that strip. You will end up with liquid water sitting on top of frozen water. Of course if you make it very wide, then the scene will lag again from having too much water!
The shades of blue between the liquid water and the frozen water may be slightly different, and so you might need to adjust the colors so that they match.
Actually, there are a lot of this type of animation in the Algobox archives. They have different and unusual titles, and that's why you were not able to find them by searching for "zoetrope". I know they exist because I have been here for many years. I even uploaded a couple of them over the past few years myself.
We know about this for many years. Someone new reports this about 2 or 3 times per year as if they were the first ones to find this glitch, but there are probably 20 or 30 scenes in the Algodoo archives from new users who have posted this same thing.
So, you don't believe that people would look at your scenes unless you "trick" them into looking at them? If that's the case, then you should work on making better scenes that people would WANT to look at instead of having to trick them in some way.
Over the past four years, Algobox has been overrun by toddlers and small children who want nothing more than to make cute little scenes of colorful stickmen with offset mouths and no noses. When you click on "Run" the scenes usually fall apart because they were not intended to be executed. They are static cartoons not unlike the comic strips in the Sunday newspapers. Gone are the days when like-minded adults got together and created complex, dynamic scenes that relied heavily on mechanical devices and assemblies, and the occasional math equation. The whole idea was to utilize as many of Algodoo's awesome physics tools as we can in our scenes while showing off to the world what we have created. We shared ideas between each other in the forum (which is hardly used at all now) and we had challenges and contests that made being here on Algobox enjoyable and educational for everyone. Sadly, Algobox has turned into a kindergarten for children. It just isn't natural for children and adults to play together in the same sandbox, and that's why most adults have left, and that's why they continue to leave.
Yes, you are correct about using "groups". Recently, Emanuel added a group to the filters that allows a person to select a filter that will prevent scenes from being shown that have the words "marble", or BFDI, or "algicathlon", or "camp" in the title. The problem with that idea is the fact that many of the juvenile scenes don't use those particular words, and so a lot of those childish scenes are still shown. It's an improvement, but far from acceptable in my opinion. The best way to utilize the groups would be to make a specific group that we want only that group to show (maybe call it "technical" or "advanced" or something like that). Make the filters so that you can select that group as the ONLY group that gets shown on the display page. I suggested that idea to Emanuel but he doesn't want to do it because it's too difficult to implement in the existing system. In my opinion, the BEST way to handle the current problem is to completely separate the children from the adults by giving each group their own portion of the website. There would have to be controls in place that would prevent children from posting in the adult portion, but I think that would be an ideal solution. Unfortunately, I doubt that would ever happen.
If you would like to try using the group filter feature, just click on "settings", and at the bottom of the page you will see "hide groups". Scroll down to the last group filter in the list and select it. When you go back to the main display page, you should see fewer juvenile scenes.
