@RAMTurtle -- Some of the things you said are just insane. For example:
"...let us post what we want to post with no arguements." Well, RAMTurtle, in a perfect world, we probably would be able to let you kids post whatever you wanted to post, but in this world in which we live, Algobox would turn into utter chaos. Your statement is like saying, "The police should let people do whatever they want to do". Can you imagine what the world would be like without rules and without police?
You also said, "Boyguybrodude is just posting what he wants to post like any normal person on algodoo does." That would be true if he was a normal person, but he is a 10 year old little boy who has a lot to learn about life and about getting along with people. That's a lesson that some other people haven't learned yet, and that's why they were banned from Algobox.
Then you said, " I really dont understand why you are banning Camps.". That is a false claim, and you know it. I did not ban camps, and so stop spreading false information which will only start trouble.
Then you said, "I think that you are taking away too much and I think it needs to stop." That's another false statement. I haven't taken away anything from anyone. I only do my job as admin. That is, if anyone posts scenes that break the rules, then I am supposed to delete them. I am just doing my job, and I don't take away anything that Emanuel doesn't want taken away.
Then you said, "What I really want to know is why you are objecting our freedom and letting us only post certain types scenes." Again you are making false statements. You have your freedom as long as you do not violate the ALgodoo Terms of Service. You do not have freedom to do whatever you want to do. You can cry all you want about it, but you will NEVER be allow to do whatever you want to do without restrictions. Welcome to life!
Then you said, "you are forcing us to not post what we want to post (Sort of comparing this to Prison). This is why people are giving up and even quitting Algobox, because we dont have any freedom anymore." No, that's not why people are leaving Algobox. They are leaving because of all the spam scenes, and all those stupid camp scenes, and all of those moronic colored stick people that do nothing but "pose". The people who are leaving are the people who used to make intelligent scenes that actually DO SOMETHING. Scenes that teach math or physics, or complex mechanical scenes. Young and old adults used to enjoy making scenes and posting them on Algobox, but since the swarms of toddlers and young children have taken it over, the adults no longer want to be here. That's a fact, Jack.
Then you said, "My overall message here is that you should give us our freedom to what we want to post back." You never had freedom to post what you want to before! YOU NEVER HAD THAT KIND OF FREEDOM! So please stop making those false statements. You were never allowed to break the rules and post anything that you wanted to post. That is just ridiculous for you to say that.
Finally you said, " I hope you take this seriously XRay. I want you to listen to us for once." Again, more of your false statements. I have always listened to whoever asked me questions or whoever had suggestions. That doesn't mean that I will give them whatever they ask for. The world is full of rules, and you have to live by those rules. There are rules in your school, there are rules in your home (well, hopefully there are), then there will be rules when you are old enough to drive a car and to get a job. Algobox is no different. You must obey the rules or else you will get into trouble. That's just how life works.
Again, I would appreciate it if you would not make any more false statements about me.
MoBuilds - I read your comment about not being able to log in to the forum. Holy cow! You seem to have trouble doing everything! Other people don't seem to have all the problems that you report.
My guess is, either you have a very old, outdated computer, or you are not doing things properly. For one, you really need to start using a real browser such as Internet Explorer or Chrome. Those browsers are free, and you can do a lot more with them than you can do with that crappy Algodoo browser. Once you finally get yourself a real browser, you will see how much better everything will be for you!
That very low rating was posted by a user named blackhile. He/she is no longer active on Algobox so I'm sure they won't mind that their low rating somehow vaporized.
Firefox is an excellent browser. I use it occasionally for some websites that Internet Explorer doesn't work with. Unless your computer is in very poor condition, I don't understand why you have so many problems.
Come on now Boyguybrodude, can't you think of a more intelligent game than a staring contest?
I heard someone say that the kids today are smarter than we adults were when we were kids. But after seeing a lot of the scenes that are posted by kids, I truly doubt that statement. Why don't you at least TRY to post some scenes that are interesting, educational, or that require people to actually think about the challenge. A staring contest is something that little toddlers do while eating their milk and cookies. Surely you are smarter than that, aren't you?
So, who did you copy the chain from? Did you ask him permission if you could copy and upload his chain? The reason I ask is because many new users like yourself, don't realize that some people get very upset when you copy their work and then upload it as if you were the person who made it. That can sometimes cause flame wars and threats, and that's when I have to step in.
And FRA32, you are correct about the scene title being degrading. A better thing to say would be something like, "Credit and my thanks go to s_noonan for his chain and sprockets." in the scene description. Hopefully, this has been a learning experience for isodecryptor.
That's very sad, INH. The only hopeful thing that I can tell you is that Emanuel from Algoryx is working on making changes to Algobox which should improve things. He wasn't specific about what those changes will be, so we will just have to wait and see, and hopefully they will resolve many of the problems that we currently have. Just like everyone else, I am waiting to see what the changes will be, and I hope that they will make things better for everyone who enjoys using Algodoo and Algobox.
Whatever you ultimately decide to do with your life, I just hope that you make good decisions for yourself and not go down the path of self-destruction. If you ever need someone to chat with, you can always contact me through the forum PM system and I would be happy to chat with you.
isodecryptor - Thanks for your replies to our comments. You write like you are mature and well educated, and we "older" users appreciate that. Unfortunately, many new users here on Algobox are in the 6 to 11 year old category and their scenes are quite childish which do not fit in very well with the older, more mature users. I hope that you will stick around and join us in making awesome scenes that the older crowd appreciate.
FRA32 - I totally agree with you that we have a real problem here on Algobox, but rather than leave it, I hope that you will stick around to see what kind of changes and improvements that Emanuel from Algoryx is making. If the changes and improvements do not turn out to be of any use, then consider leaving, but just for now I hope that you will hang in there.
He did not give me a time period, but I'm sure that he is aware that this cannot go on for too much longer if he expects to see many adults still using Algobox.
The kids don't even bother making marble races any more. A couple years ago, the majority of kid scenes were marble races, but now they make scenes of cartoon characters posing as if someone were taking their picture. You aren't even supposed to click the start button because those stationary scenes will self-destruct! They use Algodoo as if it was a paint or drawing program. They have no idea what the word "physics" even means.
pnvv -- How about if I start by banning YOU and then see what happens?
Lightningmatt - The kids have no interest in learning Thyme because it requires work and dedication. From what I've seen, all they want to do is to make simple colored stick people because it doesn't require them to THINK.
I'm not being mean or sarcastic, just being truthful.
If you accidentally post more than one of the same scene (like this one) please delete one of them so that you don't clog up the front page with extra scenes. If you cannot delete it for some reason, or if you don't know how, just let me know and I will delete it for you. You can contact me through any of my own scenes (by leaving a comment), or you can simply REPORT your own scene and tell me that you want it deleted.
The problem isn't "marble races". In fact, there are very few marble race scenes being upload compared to the way it was a year or two ago. The majority of scenes that most of us experienced users don't like are the "camps" and the colored stick people posing and chatting with each other. Heck, we don't even have to run Algodoo any more! The young kids are making scenes that can be made using Microsoft Paint, although Algodoo does make it simpler and quicker for them. And besides the simplicity of the scenes, there are SO MANY of them. A bunch of kids each posting 15 to 20 camp scenes per day, floods Algobox and pushes everyone else's scenes to the bottom of the first display page. Then very quickly, the "technical" scenes end up in the dark pits of Algobox where no one hardly goes.
I am an "older" adult (just leave it at that!), and if I wanted to play with my motorized toys in a park that allows them, I certainly would not choose an area where there are a lot of children playing marbles. Adults simply do not play in the same area where kids are playing, and kids do not want adults to play where they are playing. It's just human nature. I see the same issue here in Algobox. You cannot put adults and children into the same play area and expect the two groups to get along with each other. That's why I have been pushing for Algoryx to separate Algobox into two groups. I would not call the groups children and adults, but rather "experienced Algodoo users" and "New and inexperienced Algodoo users". The two groups would need to be separated by two areas with two different log-in requirements. We would need to define what the requirements would be, and if done correctly, I think that would solve this problem that we are having. It's the ONLY way that this problem will get resolved, in my opinion.
s_noonan - I'm so glad that you figured out that problem with the "for" function in beltedRose's scene messing up the Algodoo config file. I was going nuts trying to figure out why my "Jacks or Better Poker" scene was no long calculating multiple cards (e.g., two pair, three of a kind, and four of a kind) correctly. I narrowed the problem down to a chunk of code that uses the built-in "for" function but I thought there was something in my code that changed rather than something in Algodoo. Thanks so much for finding that because I would have spent a lot of wasted time trying to figure it out!
Holy Algodoo, Batman! This is AWESOME! And what makes it especially awesome is that you created such a complex machine without any scripting! That's a perfect TEN in my book!
lololoer -- I'm so glad that you are still making scenes and you have not given up on Algobox! In my opinion, you are among the best Algodoo scene makers. There are a few scenes in the archive which I consider very "special" because of their complexity, their cleverness, or their amazing artwork. This scene HOW TO RECYCLE combines all three of those attributes, and it is one of my favorite scenes.
