Why aren't you capable of making your own decisions. Do you go to your mom or dad and ask them what television program you should watch?<_<
alasmyfoe - The fact that a word was misspelled is not important. What is important is the fact that any person with average intelligence would understand what that word is, and the context in which it was used. Spelling would be important if the paper were a doctoral thesis, or a test in an English Literature class, but the paper is only meant to convey information in a non-formal manner. Therefore, spelling, grammar, syntax, and sentence structure are not at all important.

MoBuilds - The theory is interesting, but there is a potential flaw that supposes that physics, as we know it, was exactly the same BEFORE the Big Bang as it is now. Even TIME may not have started yet, and without time, many physical properties (as we know them) cannot work. Another issue that I take with your paper is the fact that your proposal is not a theory, but rather a hypothesis. A theory must be tested, and a hypothesis is just an educated guess. A theory replaces the hypothesis after testing confirms the hypothesis, or the hypothesis is modified and tested again until predictable results occur. Therefore, the title of this scene should be "Spring glitch (and a hypothesis)". I don't know why you combined the two subjects which have absolutely nothing to do with each other!
Phun User - I do not understand your Report. You sent me THREE Reports about this scene (which is YOUR scene!), and the only word that you wrote was "Demoting". What the heck does that mean? The Report tab should only be used for reporting other users who break the rules, such as when they use profanity (bad words), or if they threaten someone, or if they buy or sell stuff on Algodoo, etc. So, please understand what the Report link is used for before you use it again. And if you do use it for reporting another person, please be clear and specific about what you are reporting. In other words, explain in detail what the problem is. Do not use one word because I am not very good at solving puzzles, and a one word report is like a puzzle because there is very little information!

Thanks

I received three, all the same. There must be a glitch in the system if you sent only one!

So, what were you reporting?:s
@tomaz1 - Thanks for your report, but I do not see "abuse and fighting". They are just children arguing over the color of a Marble Race or a stickman or something. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks again....
In my opinion, the problem with Algobox is not "high quality" scenes vs "low quality" scenes, but rather it is HOW Algobox is being used. The very young users (mostly children between the approximate ages of 7 and 12) do not care about learning new things. In their eyes they get more than enough education in school and also with occasional homework. To them, Algobox is a place where they can play with other kids and make fun marble race scenes and algocathlon scenes. Emanuel (Algoryx employee) claims that the young kids will not get "inspired" if Algobox were split into two groups (new users and advanced users), but I disagree with that concept, and here's why: Kids do not want to be inspired to create technically advanced scenes. All they care about is playing games with colored marbles and stick men. To them, there are no "good quality" or "poor quality" scenes. There are just marble race scenes and algocathlon scenes. The scenes are either fun to play with or they are not fun to play with. It's as simple as that! By separating Algobox, it gives the advanced users a place where they can do their own technical scenes without being overloaded by simple children's scenes, and the children and other junior members will have a place where they can play with colored marbles without being maligned by us advanced users. It's the only way that Algobox can work. But, unfortunately, a major change like that will not happen because of the high cost in money, time, and resources that it would require. :(

Happy Birthday CyanDrop! :)
TheClankinator - You are an exception! I was like you too. The more technical the scenes, the more I liked them and the more I wanted to learn more about them. But the majority of young kids, from what I've seen, are not like us. All they want to do is PLAY PLAY PLAY!
So? He was just disagreeing with you. That's not a reportable offense. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean that he broke the rules. People disagree with each other all the time. It's what makes us human.

From now on, only report serious things like someone using profanity in scenes or in comments, or if they break other rules as listed in the Algodoo Terms Of Service (see "Rules" link above).

Thanks
How is the game played? The only things that move are the barrels that roll down the ramps. Where is the gorilla, and how do I move him? What keys do I use to control things?
faytree - You asked the right question: "How to inspire the kids?". The problem is, few if any of us adult users here on Algobox are professional teachers. We do not have the knowledge or experience working with kids as educators. And besides that, it's not our job to educate these kids! I wouldn't mind lending a hand to help to inspire the kids, but I don't know how to do it. I can make scenes, and I can answer questions, but that's about the extent of my knowledge with teaching kids. Technically, if Algoryx wants the kids to be inspired, then THEY should figure out what it takes, and then THEY should provide the resources to make it happen. If/when Algodoo and Algobox start to make money on those products again, then Algoryx is the company that will profit from it, not us users! Am I wrong about that?
Yes, I thought about that. If I simply made all areas outside of the park a Home Run, then the game would no longer be challenging because players would get a large number of Home Runs, and very few outs. If I wanted to change the game so that hitting the ball out of the park gives a Home Run, then I would have to rearrange all of the "targets" that are currently placed in certain areas around the playfield, and would probably need to add a few more "outs". I'll play around with it when I have time, and if I come up with a new arrangement that seems to work well, then I'll upload another version.

Thanks!
s_noonan - In case you are unaware, Algoryx has a 3d simulation program called "Dynamics for SpaceClaim". There is a link to it on the Algodoo home page: www.algodoo.com/ but the link does not work for me. I don't know much at all about the program (price, quality, capabilities, etc) and so I cannot tell you anything about it. If you can access the link, then maybe you will find what you are looking for.

EDIT: I did a search on YouTube for "Dynamics for SpaceClaim" and found a few demo videos. Check them out!

People have been coming up with ideas to save Algobox for many months, but if Algoryx (the company that owns it) is not willing to provide the money and resources that would be required to make the necessary updates and modifications, then nothing that we suggest is going to happen. I totally agree that something major needs to be done, and it will not be fixed with a quick "bandaid" fix, which is all that the Algoryx employees are willing to devote to it at this time. :(

I've been saying for months that Algobox needs to be split up into two groups: "Junior" and "Advanced", and I still strongly believe that. Once the split has been made, then we can decide HOW we should utilize the split in order to make Algobox efficient and useful for everyone, including the marble race fans.

You get an image from Google Images the same way you get an image from virtually anything else..... YOU COPY AND PASTE IT! That is, you select the image that you want, then copy it (Ctrl-C or right click and click "Copy"), then go to your Algodoo scene and paste it (Ctrl-V).
SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS?!!!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o (Xray's brain explodes) :o :o :o :o
NOW, almost a year later, I finally figured out how this scene works (I may be a little slow at times)! First of all, I totally misunderstood what "ClassObject with children" was. I thought that it was a Thyme command that kilinich typed in as code some how! That's why I was puzzled as to how the heck he was able to type that in and not get an error message! Well, now I know that it's not something that he typed in, but it is something that Thyme displayed as information.

This is my take on it:
There are TWO boxes. One that shows text, has no color, and is over the box that has color but no text. In the colored box, in the onKey event, the global variable scene.my.e gets stored with all of the event data within that box, and it gets stored as text. The non-colored box displays all of the text data that is in scene.my.e because of the script { scene.my.e } which is in the text variable. When any key gets pressed, you can see every variable value and event in the colored box that changes.

I think that's how it works. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
What does this mean? :s Change WHAT id?
Your instructions are very confusing. Why not simply say, "put the following scrip in the postStep script window: colorHSVA = colorHSVA + [1, 0, 0, 0]"
LastChance - Teaching someone in person is a lot different from teaching someone through text over the Internet. And a good teacher would have plenty of training in the subject that they want to teach. Have you had sufficient training and experience that would qualify you to teach about Algodoo? Do you have a good understanding of math and physics? That is what you would need in order to be qualified to teach Algodoo (which, ideally, would include teaching Thyme scripting language).
Wow, good message! When you become an adult you might make a good Algodoo Admin, if you are interested at that time (and if Algobox is still around)!

People who beg for comments and ratings are losers. If you get good enough to start making good scenes that people enjoy playing, then you might get some good comments and ratings. But when you beg for comments, you will usually only get negative comments like this one. <_<

Good point. I used to work for an industrial laser manufacturer that used a lot of GE/Fanuc CNC controllers for their 5-Axis laser welding machines. Those are top-of-the-line controllers but they had one major limitation. The CNC G-Codes had to be programmed manually which burned up a lot of man-hours, which of course was quite costly. The company invested about $30K in a software package that allowed the programmers to enter their designs directly from CAD, and the software would create all of the CNC codes that were required to program each job. The company got a huge return on their investment over a relatively short time period. Although $30K is a lot of money for the average person, it was an excellent investment for the company. So, $7K actually may be a bargain for Space Claim if it turns out to be a good investment for a company.

You were banned for using profanity. So, please don't make out like I'm the bad guy here. Anyhow, what are you talking about? I have no idea what color-Heros or Magenta Curse are. :s
Are you asking me or Golden Freddy? If me, I would need some time to think about it. Okay, I thought about it.... NO!
In every scene description there is a bar graph labeled "Rate this scene". You click on the number that you want to rate the scene at from 1 to 10, where 1 is lowest rating and 10 is highest rating. It's really very simple!
You're welcome. <_<
Last Chance - Was my answer helpful to you?

Alraces - Just wondering... Who else gave you help besides me? I don't see any other answers from anyone that gave you advice to fix your bugs, but you said "Thank you guys" in your scene description as if other people helped you. :s
OK, no problem! :)
