Hi Dare, nice concept, I'm pretty sure you have seen this:
http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=46380
I have spent quite a bit of time working on collision based engines and I have found lasers dont work all that well for triggering fast actions
Pure on collide works better IMHO
Kilinich's ball piston, no rods engine is the best for performance but does lack realism?
A realistic rotary would be cool
Very nice, however the valve timing is all messed up, the cam ring needs to also rotate at 1/2 the engine speed and the cylinders should fire alternately every other revolution to be totaly realistic Check out the timing on my radial here:
http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=36340
Even though mine is a radial and not a rotary the principal is exactly the same!
Still 10/10 for great artwork and engineering but can be improved
Pretty nice, not sure what all the extra length in the cylinder is doing for you?
The upper and lower horizontal black rods dont seem to do anything?
I think if you clean it up a bit it will be realy nice 8/10
A true govenor is tough to do in Algodoo
I think the point is to ensure that it spawns at the correct time in the stroke
With a few exeptions most spawn engines on here waste a lot of power by spawning too early, discuss
if you switch the pistons to boxes instead of polygons it works much better
also the polygon timing gears will not handle the speed this engine is capable of with a little tuning
This has a LOT of potential
Thanks Bill, it probly has too many parts to run well but I'm gonna try anyway
PS I didnt think stuff from the work in progress section was suposed to show up in the highlighted scenes?
Hi Dare, I have checked this on 3 different computers and the timing is right or
at least real close? This is a true 4 stroke engine and each cylinder only "fires"
once every other revolution. cylinders are numbered counter clockwise from the
top center and the firing order is 1,3,5,7,9,2,4,6,8
The cam ring turns at 1/8 crank speed. This is accurate and realistic to the real engine.
Help me out here Bill

Hi Dare, the engine itself is almost done but I need to do the in scene controls box
and the write up for the description. I will try and explane it LOL
