Just for everyone's information, I have been in contact with one of the Algoryx employees who is responsible for Algobox and the Algodoo forum. We have had many discussions concerning the types of scenes that get posted on Algobox, and I expressed my concern about the very simple and worthless scenes that often get uploaded. I wanted to delete them because they waste people's time and they waste space on the server. His reply basically was, "Remember how simple your first scenes were? Do we want someone deleting scenes only because they are simple?". And I also mentioned about the flood of pointless marble races, and copies of copies of marble races, and his reply basically was, if a scene does not violate the TOS (Terms of Service) then there is no justification for deleting it. Those aren't his exact words but the meaning is similar. So, as far as Algoryx is concerned, as long as scenes do not violate the TOS (such as profanity, threats to others, falsifying authority, etc), we Admins are to leave them alone. If you guys recall, I used to delete "message" type scenes because in my opinion they utilize Algobox like a forum, and Algobox is not a forum. Well, I've been told that as long as they don't get too wild and crazy (not his exact words) then I am to allow messages scenes!
Algoryx owns the website, and therefore they can make whatever rules that they want to make. As an Admin, I volunteer my time to enforce those rules because I believe in Algodoo and I enjoy the fact that we have a public place (Algobox) where we can show off our scenes and share them with like-minded people. I like being an Admin except for the times when I am forced to allow certain behavior that I do not agree with.
S.A. - Thanks for your suggestions. They are good ones but unfortunately not doable. Here's why.... Concerning a petition, even IF the powers at Algoryx agreed with a petition, they will not put any money or time into supporting Algodoo or this website. They graciously allowed the website to stay active, which I think is wonderful, but we get what we have, and that's all that there is! They may possibly put a little time into updating the website some time in the future, but I don't believe that the changes will be the kind that most of us are hoping for. Concerning tutorials by the experienced people for the kids and newbies, that's great, and anyone is welcome to do that, but how do you motivate the kids to go along with it? They do not care about math and physics. All they care about are marble races and colored stick people. Those are simple-minded things that do not require any planning, calculation, testing, inventing, or engineering. The kids today are smart in many ways, but they are also very lazy. So I don't see much hope in motivating them to do anything else here besides playing with marbles and stickmen.
Don't worry, Macky527, no one is going to cancel marble races. But we will definitely work toward reducing the number of senseless and pointless scenes (such as stickman poses, stickman eliminations, and most other idiotic stickman scenes) that clutter up Algobox display pages.
Well, some people think it is. But everybody has an opinion, and we try to please the majority of the people. So, if most people want Algicathwhatever (I never can spell or pronounce that name!!!) then it will most likely stay.
Sorry, S.A., but I must have missed your message because I only see your "MAGIC" scene, and my comment. Could you write your message here as a comment?
Maybe few people noticed this, but the scene upload page has been modified lately with added text: Remember to change the group to "Marble races" if you are uploading a marble race! The reason for selecting the Marble Race group when you upload a marble race scene is so when people do a search, they can select the marble race group, and then only marble race scenes will show up. On the other hand, you can search on every group EXCEPT the marble race group, and then all scenes except marble races will be displayed. The Admin at Algoryx who made this change was hoping that people would start using the Marble Race group as it was intended, and that would hopefully split the website into two groups (Marble Races and everything else). Unfortunately, people haven't been using it as they had hoped. I personally don't like the idea because people are basically lazy and would not take the time to select certain groups to search for, but I could be wrong.
Concerning actually splitting the website up into two separate groups, just isn't going to happen because, as I've said many times before, Algoryx no longer supports Algodoo or the website, and therefore will not put any time or money into changing or improving it. So, unless a miracle happens, we are stuck with what we have. Maybe the recent idea of policing each other through posting comments might be effective. Time will tell!
macky527 - Please don't post a new sentence each time you think of something to add to your comments. Wait until you have a complete thought and then post all about it in ONE comment, or, if you can, EDIT your comments and add the new sentences to the comment. That way there is less of a chance that you will be accused of spamming the comments.
If you use a browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox, etc. then you can EDIT your comments. But if you use the Algodoo built-in browser, you cannot edit your comments, so in that case, please be more careful about how much you post in separate comments.
pnvv - I sent a link to this scene to the Admin at Algoryx who is responsible for the website. I communicate with him through Skype. I'm interested in what he has to say about it, and I'll pass it along to you and others here in this comment section as soon as I hear back from him.
Sorry, InsertNameHere, but I do not give out my Skype I.D. If you have something personal to chat about, then give me a shout in the forum PM (Personal Message system). My forum user name is the same as on Algobox, "Xray".
REMINDER: Please do not chat with each other in these comments! Direct your questions and suggestions to Emanuel.
BTW - Emanuel did some things to this scene in order to make it a "sticky". That's why you see strange numbers such as 1,000,000 ratings. Now, please do not discuss THAT here!
If anyone else's computer crashed after playing this scene, please let me know about it. Also, let me know if the scene ran Okay and did NOT make your computer crash. Leave a comment here.
@quiantkbw123 - Your comment was deleted because you did not bother to read or understand the text in the scene. This is not for suggesting new functions or changes to Algodoo.
@Shaun19004 - Your comment was deleted because you ignored my rule about not chatting with other users or replying to their comments here. Please direct your comments to Emanuel.
@DontTellHarry1701 - Your comments were deleted because they are nonsensical and have nothing to do with the subject matter. Please do not post comments if you have nothing intelligent to contribute.
@tomskiwomski - Same comment to you as I said to DontTellHarry1701. This has nothing to do with adding a musical theme tune to Algodoo. (*facepalm*)
TO ALL USERS WHO'S COMMENTS WERE DELETED, AND TO ALL USERS WHO ARE CONSIDERING POSTING COMMENTS: PLEASE READ ALL OF THE TEXT IN THE SCENE. IN SHORT, THIS IS NOT ABOUT MAKING SUGGESTIONS FOR TECHNICAL CHANGES OR IMPROVEMENTS TO ALGODOO. IT IS ABOUT SUGGESTING WHAT WE CAN DO TO EASE THE TENSION AND FLAME WARS BETWEEN VARIOUS SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS HERE ON ALGOBOX.
MLMoyman33 - First off, Ultragamer564 has been banned for a few days. Secondly, I would delete this scene if it in fact violated any of the Algodoo Terms of Service rules. It comes close, but it doesn't cross the line. I will not delete a scene simply because you are p.o.'d about it.
If you can prove to me that any scene, or user comment, violates any of the Terms of Service, then I will delete it. Just report it by clicking on the "Report" tab, and be specific about why you are reporting the scene or the comment. Don't simply say something like "not good" which is the kind of report that I sometimes receive.
@MarbleRaced - Your comment was deleted because it contains profanity. We do not allow it in any shape or form. We even do not allow profane abbreviations. Algobox is visited by kids of all ages, and we would like to keep it classified as a kid-safe website.
What is it about my very simple rules that people either do not understand or they choose to ignore? I have deleted 22 comments so far because of people chatting with other people, which I very clearly said NOT TO DO! Sometimes I feel like I'm watching over a bunch of children in a Daycare Center.
If you don't want to be involved in the controversy, then why did you bother to make this scene just to tell people that you don't want to be involved?! Sounds to me like you just want to stir up trouble. Am I right?
Good job overall! The only obvious thing that looks funny is the fact that the car rides on the front porches of the houses! You need to make an adjustment to the level of the houses, and one way to do that is to add another layer of grass. Make the car drive on the top of the current grass layer, and elevate the houses slightly and add a second grass layer with no collision layers enabled. With a new grass layer, and the houses slightly elevated, it will look like the car is driving on the road or on the grass in front of the houses rather than on their porches!
