first, put auto-brake on the hinge controling the guns orientation.. it sucks that it keeps falling aside without interaction
then you should develop a better firing mechanism that could for example support a magazin of bullets, automatic reloading, differnt types of ammunition (exploding on impact ammunition would be something new, look into my scenes for an experimental impact detonator) Possibilities are endless Welcome to phun
