There have been many scenes that claim to have the fastest moving vehicle (car, plane, rocket, etc) in Algodoo, but I believe that my vehicle is the fastest possible. The reason is, the other scenes make use of thrusters, density accelerators, and other tricks to accelerate their vehicle to high velocities. But my scene simply switches the X-position from zero to 1000. Doing that makes the geometry switch positions (I believe) within one simulation frame, which is the fastest possible way that you can move an object in Algodoo. If someone can do it faster, I would be totally amazed and impressed.

Better fix it, bragging man, because I can make it go almost twice as fast.

Also, that woman looks in pretty good shape for somebody who has gone so fast. I would expect her to end up looking like Tina Turner in Road Warrior, but with less clothes.

Well, like I said.... if someone could do it faster, I would be totally amazed and impressed. So, what did you do (messing with the sim frequency or simulation speed doesn't count)?
Instead of "from zero to 1000" do "from -1000 to 1000".
Hmmmm.... Good idea, but I'm not so sure that it would be any faster than mine, especially if both methods happen within one simulation frame. How would you measure it?

EDIT: I wrote a small script that measures the number of sim.tick's for my method ( 0 to 1000) and for your method (-1000 to 1000) and MINE was faster! Including the time the system needs to interpret the code, and stopping Algodoo when the vehicle stopped at 1000 meters, my scene required 2 sim ticks, and yours required 3. I believe the reason why yours required more time is because the geometries are having to move twice as far.

2000m/3 ticks > 1000m/2 ticks. I interpret "fastest" as referring to velocity, not time. If I was looking for the fastest time, then I would move from zero to 0.000001 meter. Are you "totally amazed and impressed" yet?

 USed "lasers that change the pos of the geom"
s_noonan - In reality, both of our methods probably happen within one sim tick. I believe (just a guess at this point) that the extra 2 ticks are overhead due to the system interpreting and executing the script. I even tried Fraps (see fraps.com) to measure the time difference, but the difference is just too small. Therefore, I declare a tie!
Algobot5000 - Yes, the laser triggers the script to alter the X pos. It was a fast and convenient way to start the action. Why the "thumb down"?

velocity = distance/time
True, but that equation only applies in the real world. In Algodoo, things do not actually travel through space!
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less."
Humpty Dumpty cracks me up!
HAHA NICE JOKE MAN, HAHA
I did the "tdown" because if I put in it a race, it would CHEAT.<_<
If you put it in a race it would WIN. There is no cheating in Algodoo. There is only winners and whiners. It is all in the Terms of Service agreement.
Good idea, but teleporting isn't made yet, and that isn't a solution, you can also put the faster speed for a geom on Algodoo: 1.000000e+6

But anyway the idea isn't bad;)
Well, the track for my race is OVER a kilometre! and that travels 1000m!
My tracks would be 1400 metres!!;)
Anti stall would win 1st prize unless it was racing with that DAKAR kilinich made:blink:
This is Stupid in 1000m is the wall that deletes polygons SO...
OOOOOOOO OOO O OOOOOOO
O O O O O O
OOOO OOOOO O O O
O O O O O OOOO
O O O OO O
O O O O O O
O O O O O OOOOOOO
very simple:probably removing an object blocking a second vehickal, kills the other vehickal, but simotaniusly changes sim pos.
LIAR! LOOK IN SCRIPT ONHIT BY LAZER IT SAYS (e)=>{poz =[1000, 0.326]}
Well, aus2006, that's the point. If you calculate the speed (1 km in 0.03 secs) it's super awesome ;)
Wow, when I use the plot setting, it said this fastest thing was
traveling (1000 meters) in 2.03 seconds. I should test how far my
(Fastest thing in Algodoo?) scene and try how far it travels!
Good try Xray, I made one so fast it didn't coapreat (sry for spelling) with the lfollow thing. It got left behing. I also put a bunch of unbreakable axles on it. And guess what? It broke! Nice try xray, nice try. Mine can go like 5 times faster. Ive put it on the slowest slow mo I could without freezing it and it still went ZOOM! Lair dont listen to his "Fastest car. And after that 1000 meters it cant go anyfarther! I know we may use nooby axles and boosters i thing i have the record. Oh yeah I also think I set the record for smallest box.
Oh yeah and once it went so fast it left a wheel behind!
The 1000 m/tick 'rocket' runs at 1000 ÷ (1/60) = 60,000 m/s.
Mine is 35,000,000 m/s using the plot.
Dividing them: 35,000,000 ÷ 60,000 ≈ 583.

So mine is about 583 times faster.
Good try, but you have to gain evidence that yours is indeed faster Xray before making a move!
but this method is in a more realistic scenario since i'm measuring in m/s using the games literal measurement of speed
I think that we are all claiming that our own vehicle is faster than everyone else's vehicle based on our own definitions of speed, time, and distance. Of course speed, time, and distance in the digital world are not the same things as speed, time, and distance in our real world. They are only numeric values that we assign to abstract concepts of speed, time, and distance. If my concepts of speed, time, and distance are different than your concepts of speed, time, and distance, then we cannot possibly make fair and accurate comparisons of my vehicle versus your vehicle. I believe that an accurate and fair challenge could be done if all contestants were to use only one agreed upon scene that is used for controlling the race and measuring the parameters that would determine who's vehicle is the fastest. Each contestant would insert his/her vehicle into the scene and then start the speed test. But even that would not be very accurate because each constant would be running the test on his/her own platform which, of course, would be different than other contestant's platforms. So, in order to do it properly and fairly, all contestants would have to meet in person at an agreed upon location and time in order to run the test on one particular platform. Only then we would be able to make a truly fair and accurate comparison. So, where and when shall we meet, guys?
