For all you pilots out there;)
The B58 is one of the coolest looking planes EVER IMHO
Features accurate size and weight
The landing gear works as close to the original as possible in 2D

G= Raise and lower landing gear Toggled
Numpad 0= Drop plane on the gear
E= toggle engine
Down arrow= Pitch up CAUTION the pitch control is VERY sensitive
Up arrow= Pitch down At high speed just barely tap
Right Ctrl= Brake
P= "Pickle" Fuel/Weapons pod
The landing gear WILL explode with rapid pitch changes at high speed
The plane is hard to land but it can be done
Keep the vertical speed under -5 mps for a successfull landing
Maybe someone will make some decent instruments for it Wink Wink

Wing and engine by Kilinich
Explosion effects by Rideg

PS the plane will lift off on its own without touching the pitch
Try and fly completely level for max speed

One of my favorite planes too! I made a safe landing on the 3rd try, might have been 2nd try but I was still half
I like the landing gear linkage and action most of all. Great work again and Happy New Years!

Thanks Bill ;)
The landing gear has some very high density parts in it to make it work at the realistic weight:bonk:
Thats why it explodes with sudden pitch changes at high speed :'(
I should probobly make a locking mechanism but I dont know if even that would solve the problem:s
The further you get from the origin point the crazier algodoo gets :bonk:
I'm glad you like it I realy did put a ton of work into the gear

I had the same landing gear problems with my Horten. IIRC I used Real small transparent high density parts where ever hinges were so I could keep the larger visible parts light but even at that I had to use a another transparent part to support the plane on the ground. Because it was too hard to go back and add the small parts for mounting hinges to the far side gear I had to cheat. Next time I know to do that from the start.

My Horten also had a locking mechanism that was nothing more than circles that changed to a collide group that kept the gear in place and would change groups again to allow the gear to lower back down. The Horten was odd to make the gear from the start because the plane was drawn in 3d and I wanted to make the gear appear to work in the same 3d perspective, along with the wheels that appear to roll in a sort of 3d.

And I agree the farther you get in a project the crazier it can get!!! I have a few scenes that I have given up on because they got way out of hand and would require someone like Kilinich to finish.

Wow. 10/10.
That's hell good:tup:
When I tried to land, I putted the brake, and when it was going to 90 m/s everything exploded :s
Very realistic. Maybe some scripted flaps or some kind of brake with a bit more of strenght would make it MORE epic :D !
forget about that wings and engines - get new one (solid) and use thrusters!

@ wild bill, I only wish I could make my stuff look as slick and finished as yours_o_
This thing was tough because I realy wanted to show off the action of the landing gear which is why I ended up with the "ghost" profile :bonk:
PS I purchased the drawings I used from
It was a lot of work to get it all scaled propperly! kinda did a sloppy job on the "pod"
Most of the work on the gear was done from memory of a plastic model I built years ago and photos of the real plane
I also have the ejection capsule that Pfjeka was working on as a colab on this project, he just kinda dropped off the face of the earth so the project kinda stalled out:unsure:
I hope nothing bad happened to him he was quite good at this stuff:(
I may try and add that if anyone is interested besides just you and me:lol:

@ The Linkage, the brakes are just wheel brakes only good on the ground
Glad you liked it;) The wheels were small on this plane for its size and weight and
they had lots of problems with them, it also employed a drag chute routinely on landing but not before touch down ;)
@ Kilinich, but I worked so hard to get this working close to right that I hated to just start over on the flight physics_o_

Cool old training vid on landing the Hustler
They were a VERY hard plane to land as is this model I also have this plane in Xplane and I havnt been able to land it at ALL
in the sim you just cant see whats going on like you can in the real world with your head on a swivel
I know that of the brake Gent, thats why I suggested the flaps (dont know if its possible, just Asked the Master  )
Cool vid  maybe I will start making a plane. I guess I ran out of ideas :|
Well now that you saw that old vid you know the plane did not use flaps and landed very HOT
I know mine is far from perfect but I'd been sitting on it for almost 2 years and decided to post while it still sorta works:bonk:
Thanks for the comments and I bet you will make a cool plane;)
Awesome plane, Man. Im tempted to make a skin for this plan, Make it look a little bit prettier;)
Go right ahead heck some pics are in the scene I just wanted to show off the landing gear
Can you give me an idea? I don't know what plane to do :bonk: !
@ The Linkage, man thats like asking whats the best beer
EVERYONE has thier favorite plane!!
I mostly chose this one because the real landing gear folds up almost exactly as shown in the scene;)
A lot of planes fold the main gear to the sides somewhat which is hard to show in Algodoo
I started out just trying to make the landing gear work realistically and then went on to try and make it hold realistic weight
after I got that sorta working then it had to fly to do any further testing
Without Kilinich this would have never flown...........
Just pick a plane you like and make it fly with Kilinich's nice new tools, dont worry about the gear unless you realy want to ;)
Bottom line have FUN

It amazes me they had this tech in 1956
I thought I was an old fart born in 1957
anyway enjoy this:

If you cant tell by now I LOVE this plane

PS if you look on youtube there are lots of vids about this plane:angel:
