This scene is a proof of concect, showing that you can make a first person shooting game in algodoo.

The target is scripted so when the crosshairs are over it, it'll spawn two circles that simulate a bullet impact.

The scope is scripted so it follows the algodoo built in variable "scene.camera.pan", so wherever the camera goes, the scope goes, even when the simulation is paused.

There's an experimental mouse aiming system that will make the camera follow the cursor. Personally, I like it, but it might not be everybody's cup of tea, so let me know what you think of it.

Controls:

A - Aiming [Hold]
Z - Fire
Enter/Return - Forced camera zoom for better realism (the scope is just a black ring, so if you zoom out it looks goofy) [Toggle]

Really cool stuff. It would be nice if some recoil effects were added.
btw, another way to aim the gun without hold A is to press the middle mouse button
(scroll wheel click)

And you know, I hadn't thought of it, but recoil wouldn't be very hard to implement... at least I don't think it would....

And yeah, you could use the mouse wheel, but I wanted it to feel a little more like a real first person shooter game, instead of having to drag the camera around to aim, which I don't think you can do in any FPS I've heard of.

You could have the background move rather than the camera for the recoil effect?
For what it's worth, I prefer using the scroll wheel for aiming because it feels more realistic, and I have much better control for aiming.
