I got the idea of designing a car which moves the same way as a bristle-bot. My first idea was to take an ordinary car hull and add bristles below, but I ended up with a fantasy theme. One problem with the bristle principle is the lack of a stearing wheel. The driver can't control where it drives. I got the notions that the bristle driver is a kind of nomad who doesn't have any destionation. Someone who just drives and then stops when she sees something interesting.

I started out by constructing a rough test model, to be sure that it worked. Then I drew the artwork in photoshop and exported it as .png's, which I dragged into Algodoo. I felt that It was important with a visible driver, so the viewer could judge the size of the car by comparing it to the human. If I had just made a car which drove in a undefineable envirement, it could just as well be a toy car. I also tried to make the drivers size fit with Algodoo's scale.

Of course, it's quite uncomfortable for the driver that a giant vibrator is shaking the car about. I experienced with some different shock absorbers: springs, magnets, even water (bad idea). I ended up with just two chains, and a chain below for security. Not the best solution for the driver. But it's fun to look at!
