ALGODOO 1.9.9b ONLY
A and D to move, as per usual. There are a fairly large number of differences to the old walker. I decided to remake one to celebrate the new beta!
I rebuilt the engine from scratch. Like the old one, it is still a collision engine with 2 cylinders and contra-rotating flywheels.
The old engine was decent, but not great. This engine is far more powerful.
-I doubled the number of pistons (now 8) and staggered them in each cylinder. This creates much smoother power, because only one piston will be pushed at a time, and there is less jerking.
-Each piston is longer, to prevent them from popping out of the cylinders.
-The rods connecting to the flywheels are longer.
-The engine is slightly smaller.
-The engine now gives a powering stroke on each 1/2 rotation of the flywheels per piston.
-The engine will never stall, and will always run in the same direction.
Now the walker!
The old walker tended to skip and jump, I'm not entirely sure why. This one features a miriad of improvements!
-longer legs create longer stride. I've raced my walkers and this one is faster.
This body also has a higher clearance and leg height, so it can step over objects.
-The gears that reduce rpm and increase power mesh more closely.
The only downside I've found is that it is more top heavy, but on flat/slightly sloped ground it is overall more stable that the first walker.
Also, this will lag on lower end computers. The beta seems to be more cpu intensive.
Does not use any motors.
61 bodies
148 geometries
86 hinges
The engine fits in a 1x1 metre box.
