ALGODOO ONLY (I think)
May work unreliably over 100HZ

I made a car with gears powered by a collision engine. The thing is, it's completely powered by the engine, there are absolutely no motors involved. Needless to say, this was an absolute bitch to make.

And also, be gentle, it's my first gearbox!

This little car (who also answers by the name of Herbert) is driven with the A and D keys and 1, 2 and 3 as the different gears.

Now, a few credits are due methinks!

Thanks to Someone Else for his Thymechanical gearbox, which I stole the code/concept from.

Thanks to Kilinich, who sent me the collision-changing code to work the engine.

And thanks to Kilinich/conundrumer for the circle gears.

Hmm, that's odd. Make sure you're not pressing the gear keys down too long.

Also, this might only work in Algodoo, I'm not sure.

Also note that I will soon come out with an 8-speed transmission that is completely mechanical and uses all 7 collision layers. I will post the link soon.

I will also put it in a car with some suspension, powered by my Beezlebub II 4-cyl engine. It will only have two motor hinges, both are used as servos.

I take it that "No motors involved" you mean "It uses motors, but only as servos"? Or are your servos in fact powered by the engine, but activated by braking the hinges?

@Christer and Chilihog: Did you put it in gear?

@Someone Else-- Why use seven collision layers? Just use 1 or 2 with heterocollide. Unless you're using C-gears.

There are absolutely no motors. Select the entire thing and the motor box is unchecked.

This gearbox is far from perfect, I won't be adding it to anything until I can make it change reliably.
