S starts and stops. it reaches speeds of around 56 rad/s, which is about a fifth of the speed of real airplane propellers. but if it were to run at that speed, i think my spring engine would implode

edit: it goes 96 rad/s!!!!!!

Propeller is totally unbalanced, makes engine shake like crazy and probably won't give you the high rpms you want.
the propeller is balanced at its center of gravity, thats not the problem. you can make the springs stronger or set the damping lower and it goes faster, but then the pistons get out of place. Also, i think your confusing rpm with rad/s. one rotation it equal to 2pi radians, and after the units conversion, my 96 rad/s is equal to around 920 rpm, which is plenty fast enough to power a small biplane, just not a heavy fighter plane. Propeller speeds on real airplanes are limited to somewhere around 2500 rpm, because if the propeller breaks the sound barrier, all sorts of problems occur. You should do your homework before talking trash about other peoples scenes.
Talking trash? I am telling you the propeller is out of balance and is making it shake a bit, don't bite my head off.
