For a while I've been playing through the Sonic Advance series and I've really wanted to make something like Sonic in Algodoo.
A few days ago (I think it was yesterday actually....) I threw together a primitive rig of Tails as a proof of concept, with crummy animations.
It's still not very good in my eyes, but I feel like it's worth sharing now and I've had a lot of fun toying around with it and making modifications.
Tails here can run around and jump just like in the Sonic games (he cannot roll into a ball though)
I've measured his top speed at around 800 MPH although I'm sure he can go faster.
The physics are definitely, uh.... "not ideal" and Tails is too large (i'm pretty sure he'd be closer to half the size) but I find it more fun at this scale, plus I feel like there's only so much I know how to do, especially at 60hz
Nonetheless I've had a lot of fun making this and even more fun running around with it -- It's not perfect but I honestly find trying to adjust to the issues fun in and of itself (that might just be me though)
CONTROLS:
W - Jump/Fly
A - Go backwards
D - Go forwards
You can see the spritesheet I used to make it on the left -- everything was made in Algodoo!
I'm not used to animating (I'm an artist outside of Algodoo but I've never animated before) so the animations might be a little iffy but I still enjoy them!
2017 - 2026 Little (Silly Experiment)
Sonic and Tails are owned by Sega
No AI was used in the making of this scene
Not mobile friendly -- sorry!
HOTFIX: Moved everything to front layer
EDIT: Downgraded to an older prototype that seemed to be less wobbly
