Was this rifle modeled after a real-life rifle? If so, could you tell me what the make and model are? I wanted to look up the specs on it. Thanks
The bolt mechanism was designed after a sketch i saw on Gun Wiki on fandom.com belonging to (i think) the 1924 Garand trials rifle, Alot of the things i did (Sear trigger, Serrated trigger guard) were additional though. No problem!
Okay, thanks! I was wondering because I thought the cartridges were rather small for a rifle. In fact they are pistol cartridges.

It's not too unusual for some rifles, like the well-known "Tommy Gun", to fire pistol cartridges (the .45 ACP). That's why it is called a sub-machine gun. The Tommy Gun is also blowback operated like your rifle.
forgotten weapons rifle?
yes
I didint feel like it was appropriate to call it a SMG because its not designed to shoot in full auto (and honestly is not fully capable of consistently doing so anyways) has adjustable rear sights (i am aware many SMG's had adjustable rear sights, but they did not usually account for elevation, if they did they were usually discarded after a while ) and the shape of it. I like to think of it more as a overcomplicated varmint rifle.

A lot of rifles shoot pistol cartridges, specifically carbine type rifles. (Ruger PC carbine for a modern example.) The main reason i used pistol cartridges was because i wanted to design the system around a more ''low pressure'' cartridge, plus its easier to make a magazine.
I see that you added a comment in your scene description that reads: "at some point this may become select fire".

From my experience here on Algobox, which is over ten years, I have seen many attempts by people trying to make full auto, select fire rifles. Believe me when I say that many of the designs are barely functional, difficult to load, and jam constantly. It's a major challenge and I hope you can do it. I'm looking forward to shooting it when you have completed it! :)

Thank you, Im thinking for the semi auto its gonna have a second sear, with a total of three sears.

It will probably be based off of one of Johnfromthewest's triggers but i dont want to just copy and paste so ill probably try working out some sort of 3 sears one trigger thing.

But for that to happen i need to figure out a way to get the firing pin to not slide due to inertia just so happening to be a property of matter, and the action needs to be a wee bit smoother.
.
Forgot to add - Third sear would be fully automatic
my bad for taking so long to get to this one but this is really creative, the modifications you've made to the ammo is very cool, im impressed great work!
