Yes, I know the internals are not similar to the m4. The main goal of this project was to make a gun that cycles at a faster speed than most guns on Algodoo.
The trigger group is semi-automatic, if you would like to make it full auto, delete the disconnector. REQUIRES BEEFY COMPUTER

It doesn't extract/eject the spent brass. I have to manually operate the bolt in order to fire each round. Is it supposed to work that way?

No, it isn't. Due to the way that the rounds work, sometimes, Algodoo glitches, and the force doesn't go straight backwards but off to the side which makes the bolt lose too much energy. Here is a video showing it working as intended.

It seems to work more reliably at a higher frame rate and I'm not too sure why.

Just curious... Is this modeled after a real-life rifle? I was wondering about the pistol type ammo rather than the standard bottle-neck type ammo typically used in most rifles.


EDIT: Never mind! It's titled PCC. DUH! :lol:

Has it ever cycled for you? For me, it sometimes makes me manually eject each round but it works smoothly sometimes as well. Has it ever worked as intended for you?

Unfortunately, no. I tried reducing the sim frequency a little, and then it started to cycle but other things started to shake apart like crazy. So, reducing the sim frequency was not the answer. I think it might have something to do with conflicting collision layers between some of the mechanical components.

In general, it's very rare that the sim frequency should ever need to be set at its highest value (1200 Hz) in order to make a scene behave properly. Therefore, there is definitely something odd going on here. There are many other auto-loading rifles in the Algobox archive that cycle flawlessly with a much lower sim frequency value, and so I'm sure it can be fixed with the right amount of "tweaking".
