Hello mortals! Or immortals? *Vsauce music*
Remember Scrodinger's cat? Well I do. if you don't, basicaly you place a cat in a box, and a bomb that constantly measures the spin of an electron, if its up, then the cat dies, if otherwise (down) it lives. Now if I check the cat, Il have a 50-50 chance of it being aliv or dead. What's more? Acording to a very crazy idea, the MANY WORLDS INTERPRETATION, the chance makes the universe split into different timelines, one where the cat is dead, and another in which its alive. This suggests that the cat is both alive and unalive, at the same time. Now can you do me a favor? Remove the cat in the box, and go inside. You decide to measure the spin. It measured down, no big deal, by now you have a 25% chance of being in the not dead state. You measure it again, survival chance is 12.5%. And you measure it again, and a again, and again. At this point you might be asking "Why is it measuring down all the time?! Is it broken?!". No actualy, your death is basicaly the end of your consiousness, and since you can't exist in a universe that your consiousness is not real, you will always measure the thing to be down. Now DO NOT TRY IT FOR YOURSELF, PLEASE, IT COULD BE WRONG! |
