I think "Kerbal Space Program" (KSP) would be the perfect simulation game for you!

You can build your own unique rockets (and shuttles, planes, etc.) and start them, control them to wherever you want. to another continent, out of the atmosphere, orbit, the moon, other planets... and land your vessel - with a bit experience and good luck in just one piece! ^^ After that you can travel back to your home planet - but be careful because of the heating atmosphere, you need a good heat shield and the right angle of atmospheric entry.

The capsule almost got hit by previous stage when landing. And impact velocity is too big i think(14m/s).
