Black holes are only ever really seen by the gas trails leading into them.
So the colour seen could be anything, really. But the hole itself.. Is just a void

When bits broke off, it'd start trailing back. Perhaps fix one single follow object in the most durable patch of the car.

Yea, with that kind of power and trajectory, it's not a mortar.
The idea of a mortar is to lob projectiles over objects and terrain, relatively short distances.

This is more like a rocket-launcher.. Or a beefed up cannon.
Basically, it's not impressive, accurate or particularly helpful.
