This is pretty much what I did a while ago.

In the grid settings, you can change the number of axes to 3. This gives you a triangular grid and allows you to create perfect hexagons. I don't know about pentagons though.

I seriously did not expect that I'd need to know Diep.io stuff before doing this

What I got was the gear and circle bred together, the square cloned, and the triangle died

Okay, I realized something, this evolution simulator is somewhat luck-based. A better one might be running across the ground or something. However I really like how some creatures are better conditioned to certain environments - the bowtie was really good at climbing hills but not as good on flat ground. Cool!
