I really suck at trying to make mechanical objects with Algodoo. I know a lot about firearms and how they function. In fact I own quite a few pistols and rifles. A few years ago I tried to make a 1911 style .45 ACP pistol and I was not able to get it to function properly so I gave up!
Understood. It's the old "Speed vs Functionality" dilemma.
In any case, the scene was very well designed, both functionally and aesthetically. It's really quite similar to the original game by the NY Times. I do miss the shaking letters that happens when an entered word cannot be found in its word list. (Don't worry. I'm not suggesting you do that!)
I am asking this in a friendly manner. When you post words that people don't know because they are spelled wrong, they will get confused like I did. I truly want to help you if you will let me.
1. Disable the Algodoo clouds. It makes no sense to have clouds floating by when learning how to spell.
2. I assume that the lady with the wand shows up when a word is spelled correctly. If that is true then it does not always work. Many times the lady showed up when I intentionally misspell words.
3. You should alert the person when words are NOT spelled correctly.
4. You should add a Backspace key to erase the last entered letter so that the user can delete an accidental entry.
5. SOUND: Check out some of user s_noonan's Algodoo sound scenes. I'm sure he would answer your questions about how to implement sound in Algodoo. He knows a lot about that kind of stuff.
i played okay now punt red i'm not seen him but orange slide over. seem cant tell me NOT NO NO NO!!! he cant do sim okay bro. it cool sum sus now but never red sus okay okay yeah!!!
If you ever visit the Golden Gate Bridge or any other historical sites in San Francisco, the absolutely best "must see" site is a science museum known as The Exploratorium I have been there many times and I never got tired of it because it changes so often. They keep adding many new and interesting "hands-on" science exhibits. I love that place!
vinodrai -- I edited my comment because I now know that the lady with a wand is a teacher, and the user can click on her for the correct answer. For some reason, the scene description did not show after I downloaded the scene. It just showed some weird characters. After I reloaded the scene I read your instructions and now I understand how to use it! LOL
It does work the way you intended it to work, but as you mentioned it would be much better with sound because some of the images can mean different things to different people. For example, I recognized that gold jug as a "pitcher", as would many other people. But if sound was working, it could say the word "JUG". I hope someone can assist you in getting sound to work with this scene.
Noahphil -- I don't understand what you mean by "do text". Please be more specific.
I have a question for you. I looked at all of your scenes and I see that in every case you upload TWO scenes of the same kind and then you delete one of them! Why do you do that?
