@Doc671 - That won't work because _RNG is a local variable, and you are trying to define it in the global scope. You need to enter a local variable in the geometry in which it is used. You can only define "scene.my...." (global) variables in the console (F10).
Instead of telling users to enter _RNG = 30, why not just add it yourself by editing the scene? It's not good programming practice to force users to make programming changes!
Actually, after looking through the scene, I see that you really should not use _RNG, but rather use scene.my.RNG (do not use the underscore character). Also, you will need to define scene.my.RNG just one time anywhere in the scene or in the console (F10).
Giving credit to someone is meaningless if you first did not get their permission to use their scenes or parts of scenes that they have created. That's a concept that most of the kids on Algobox still don't understand.
I noticed that I have to press and hold the number keys for a certain time period, but not too long! That is not a good way to design keyboard entry. A user should be able to press a key quickly and have it store the key without having to hold it down for a certain time period. Same with the Enter key. If you could fix that problem, then it should work for everyone!
@Jocelot Productions - There you go again saying things that are false and laughable. OF COURSE it is possible to ban someone, especially if their behavior is bad and causing a lot of trouble on Algobox. That's my job as Admin. I have the authority to ban anyone I want to. But I do not ban people "willy nilly" just because they say something that's a little off-color, or that you do not agree with. In the comments above, InsertNameHere was just expressing his opinion. You might not agree with him, but he did not threaten you, he did not slander you, and he did not use profanity. And for those reasons, I will not ban him. If you do not appreciate the things that he says, then let him know that. Just don't say anything that might get YOU banned!
@Jocelot Productions - Please do not lump InsertNameHear and me into the same category of "Bully". I am an Admin here for Algobox, and it is my job to maintain the peace and to make sure that everyone plays by the rules. I do not agree with InsertNameHere and I do not promote any of his taunting or provoking comments. In fact, I recently sent him a warning about the situation.
I do not like to see anyone leave Algobox, especially if the reason is that they are being bullied or teased by other users. I take that kind of aggression very seriously, and I will deal with it quickly and properly. But I can only deal with it if I know about it. So, when that kind of aggression happens, it is up to YOU to REPORT the person so that I could deal with the situation. I try to be here as often as I can, but I am human which means that I sleep, and I do have a personal life outside of Algobox.
Now please understand that I cannot and will not ban everyone who says something about a scene, or expresses their opinion about marble races, camps, or "Athlon" type scenes. If I were to do that, then at least half of the users here would be gone!. But when I see someone who violates any of the Rules (Algodoo Terms of Service) then they do run the risk of receiving a warning and possibly getting banned, especially if that behavior continues. And I DO deal with people who operate just "under the radar", which means that they do not actually violate the rules, but they taunt and tease others (like InsertNameHere has done) which creates an unhappy, unhealthy, and unproductive environment. Those people receive my warnings too.
I hope that you do not leave Algobox because of the comments of a specific person. I would rather that you Report the situation and let me deal with it if it happens again. I will not go easy on anyone who breaks the rules, but I will deal with them fairly and honestly and effectively.
@MarioBro1337 - What "Chest" are you talking about? I do not see anything called a "Chest" in this scene! When you make a Report, you need to be specific about exactly what was copied, and also provide either a link or a scene title to your scene that the item was stolen from. That kind of information will help me to identify the object that you claim was copied.
No offense, but this is not an engine. It is just four independent pistons going up and down, and they are driven by a motor on each crank shaft. Why not make a "real" Algodoo engine in which each piston provides the power to turn a common crankshaft. In order to show that your engine actually works, you can have it rotate a propeller or some other device that generates mechanical work.
Just a friendly suggestion.
Here is a good example of a two cylinder engine: OHV V2 Engine
Thanks Raydeg! You've made some awesome scenes too! You have been here on Algobox for many years, and I hope you will continue making great scenes. I especially like your military style rifles (I own a real AR15. It's a fun rifle to shoot!).
No problem, jrbarsim231. A video is moving pictures like you see in a cinema (or movie theater). I don't know what you could call that in your scene because I don't understand exactly what it is supposed to be. Sorry....
@calvin1390 - Don't use the Report link for "testing". It should only be used for reporting other users who break the rules (such as when they use profanity, or if they threaten another user).
If I send you a warning, you WILL see it! You don't need to click on the Report link to see if you have warnings!
I was wondering why you set collision layers on the white circles so that it drives the walker only once out of every four cycles? I enabled all collision layers on the white circles in order to see what happens, and it now walks on all four cycles instead of just one out of four. It seems to be more efficient that way!
That's Okay, JoshTGM. The best way to learn is to download other people's engines to see how they did it.
As I said, yours is not an engine, but is just a simplified picture of the parts of an engine that demonstrates the movement of pistons. And that's Okay if you just want to show people how pistons move up and down. But if you want to make a working engine, you need a lot more mechanical parts than what you have in your scene.
Please understand that I am not telling you what you should make. I am only giving you some ideas that you can choose to use or ignore.
