Cahir2015 - I have some news for YOU! In your scene it states, " People like xray pnwv and other people are trying to Cut algodoo in half". You are ignorant of the facts, and you are only trying to stir up trouble. We do not need trolls like you here.
Since you are a brand new NEWBIE here, let me educate you about Algodoo. Algodoo is the name of the simulation program that runs on your computer. It cannot be cut in half because it is no longer in development.
Fact number two: The name of this website section where people can upload and download scenes made with Algodoo is named Algobox. If that's what you were referring to, then NO, you are wrong about that. All I (and a few other concerned users) are trying to do is to stop the flame wars and resolve the complaints that the two groups (marble racers, and everyone else) are fighting about. What we are trying to do is a GOOD thing. What YOU are trying to do is to divide everyone and engage in more heated arguments and bitter flame wars. The Algodoo community does not need or want people like you doing that.
Now, in case you did not know it, I happened to be an Admin here on Algobox. What that means is I watch over people like you to make sure that you do not ruin what we have, and do not trigger more problems between users. Therefore, I am telling you that I will allow this scene to be active for a few more hours to give you time to read my comment and maybe to reply to it, and then I will delete this aweful scene. If you try to post it again after I deleted it, then you will be risking getting banned.
GMtester -- That's a very cool "lightning card"! Good job.
By the way, in your scene description you began the second paragraph with "Dear Algodoo". Um, you cannot talk to the simulation program because it cannot hear you and it cannot respond back to you! You made the mistake that many other people make, and that is you think that Algodoo is the name of this website and the entire user community. Well, no, it's only the name of the simulation program that runs on your computer and that you use to make scenes with. This portion of the website is called Algobox. So, now you have the official definitions of those two names!
Concerning Algocards and other such things, I recently had a discussion with Emanuel at Algoryx, and he did not want me to put any restrictions on the scenes that people make so long as they do not violate the Algodoo Terms of Service (the "Rules" tab near the top of this page). So, in a nutshell, if your scene doesn't have profanity in it, and if it doesn't threaten other users, then it will probably be Okay to post.
Thanks, zaydenm, but most of the credit for this scene goes to s_noonan. He developed most of the nuts and bolts that make the scene work. I simply added a little icing to the cake.
MrMaddnes - The scene is simply an animated gif which is composed of a series of single gif images. If you use the Move tool to push down on the invisible plane that's located over the lower half of the scene, you will see 39 individual gif images of the matrix codes. The script that's located in the box that is used to view the images, sequences the images one at a time so that it looks like a single moving image. It's really quite simple.
Yes, he sure does, mister tomski womski dudeski woodski! I'm old enough to remember some of the weird things that went on during the 60's. People were doing some very strange things because of the acid that many of them were taking. Yes, it was a very strange time indeedski weedski.
If you need to chat with kilinich, the best way would be through the PM (Personal Message system) in the Algodoo forum. You can ask him questions and/or make suggestions about his contests that you don't normally want everyone else to read.
SA - Thanks for keeping an eye out for garbage like that when I'm not around (I do have a life outside of Algodoo!).
Concerning giving you rights to delete scenes, you would have to become an Admin because there is no way to selectively give you partial rights to do limited actions. It's either all or nothing. Currently we have enough Admins to watch over Algobox and the forum. But I do appreciate it if you would keep your eyes out for scenes like that one, and let me know about them by reporting them. At the most a bad scene might be active for a couple of hours, but usually less because when I'm not around (sleeping for example) the other Admins will usually catch them.
In my opinion (which is what counts on this website) is that this scene does not violate the Algodoo Terms of Service (TOS), and therefore it will not be deleted. Some people may get offended by it, but we cannot delete EVERY scene that might offend someone because if we did that, then we would end up with most of the scenes in the archive getting deleted!
Thanks for the Report, just in case it did violate the TOS.
The reason why you see flames coming from the ground is because of reflections from multiple laser beams. If you go into the script menu and change maxRays from 1000 to 1, then you will not have flames coming from the ground.
SA - I don't know why you said "lasers can't burn" because they surely can! (I used to work as an engineer for an industrial laser manufacturer). But I do agree that the flames are unrealistic. They look like glowing Ping-Pong balls rather than fire!
Why would you want to roundify an object? Just start out with a circle in the first place!
Okay, so even if you had a good reason to roundify an object, this scene is not in a good useable state. The problem that I found with it is that your non-round object must be within a specific range of widths. That is, if the object's radius is too small (shorter than the gap between the laser beam and the red circle) then it will not get cut by the laser. On the other hand, if the object's radius is too large, the red circle won't turn it because it will get stuck by striking the working parts of the machine. This scene could be improved if you make the distance between the laser beam and the red circle adjustable. You may also need to make the laser oscillations adjustable. I have seen similar scenes that do basically the same thing but in a much better manner. Sorry...
Oh sure. The light from a laser is what heats most materials that it comes in contact with, but the light itself doesn't "burn" as what happens in this scene. So, in that respect, it is not accurate.
Suggestion: Don't make any Algodoo scenes while you are bored because you will probably end up making a piece of crap that you spent five minutes on. So, I suggest that you go watch a few YouTube videos or chat with your school friends on FaceBook. Later, when you are not feeling so bored, think about the kind of scene that you want to make, and then carefully plan it. Think about how the scene will look, what it will do, and what kind of user input it should have. Maybe spend some time drawing pictures of your scene, planning it out, and making changes on the paper. Then when you are ready to start making your scene, you will be prepared! If you want to make a quality scene, spend lots of time on making it. There is no rush to get scenes uploaded to ALgobox. The more time that you take to make a scene, the better it will be, and the more impressed the Algodoo community will be with it. Really awesome scenes generally take many days, and sometimes weeks to make and debug. That's the difference between a garbage scene and one that will impress the heck out of everyone!
Don't worry about me disabling comments. The only time I will disable a comment is if it violates the Algodoo Terms of Service (TOS) (such as profanity, threatening another user, falsifying another person, advertising a product for sale, and those sorts of things. I will not delete comments when people argue, only if they cross the line by violating the TOS.
Cahir2015 - No problem! There is a lot to learn, and you can start by looking at some scenes in the archive to see how other people did it. Start out by making a simple scene, like a car or a bus that moves forward and backward, and then over time you can make more complex scenes. You already do very well for someone as young as you are, and so you will make some very good scenes down the road after you learn more about it. If you have questions, just ask them in comments and maybe people will give you some good advice.
Yes, I agree that some people are flooding Algobox with worthless junk scenes such as those colored stick men, but that should not prevent you from making your own good quality scenes. Just ignore them and do the best that you can!
Oh, thanks for getting back to me and explaining what happened! Unfortunately, there have been some people on Algobox and on the forum who asked for help, and then after someone has spent their time, and sometimes a lot of effort, to help them, they did not reply to thank them or even to report if the help was helpful. I am glad that you are not that kind of person! Now, I will be more than happy to help you again in the future.
