vin06 - No, I am not the creator of Algodoo. I am one of the Administrators who watch over Algobox and occasionally the Algodoo forum. I make sure that people behave and do not violate the rules.
I delete scenes for various reasons. One might be because the creator of the scene used profanity or sexual images, etc. There are other reasons why I delete scenes and they are always good reasons. I never delete scenes for "no reason" as some people have accused me of doing.
I hope this answers your questions.
EDIT: By the way, vin06, do you know how to EDIT your comments? I ask this because you keep posting new comments every time you have something more to add to an existing comment. If you do what I am doing here (Use the EDIT feature) then you will not clutter up people's pages with a huge list of your comments. You will keep all your comments in one small section.
vin06 - Can you EDIT your comments? I know that some people cannot edit their comments, and so they keep adding more comments every time they think of something else to say. If you can edit, then you will save a lot of space by not cluttering up people's scene pages with a lot of extra comments. If you need help, I will explain how to edit comments. Okay?
I know that it must be the poor sound quality of YouTube, but that AK sounds like a suppressed .22! I'd bet that it had a much more robust boom! boom! boom! boom! boom! boom! boom! there at the range.
Well, you lucky devil. I've fired just about every kind of small arms that you can name, but I never fired full auto. Someday I'll have my chance.
Marbles4Crazy - I overlaid multiple (4) animated gifs of snowflakes and I gave each layer successive levels of transparency. Very simple.
By the way, did you receive my warning about those Algo-whatever-thon scenes of little colored people? I had to put an end to it because they were turning Algobox into something that was not intended for it to be. I have to do that occasionally when people start engaging in unwanted activity. I hope you understand.
Scientific Accuracy - Can't you EDIT your comments? If you use a standard Internet browser, such as I.E., Chrome, or Fire Fix, you should be able to click on the little yellow pencil and blue paper next to the big red X. You will then be able to edit any mistakes.
S.A. - Well, marble races are Okay because they at least demonstrate physical action which is what Algodoo is all about. It's those little colored stick people that I had to put a stop to. Some users actually have them talking to each other and posing as if they were having a photo shoot!
Yes, I saw that scene. Unfortunately, the higher-ups at Algoryx would probably fire me as Admin if I made a new rule that Marble Races are no longer allowed. Some day in the far distant future, Algobox will hopefully be improved, and I am going to suggest that it be split up into two areas: One for new and/or young users, and another for experienced/mature users. I won't keep my fingers crossed for that one because it will probably not happen, but I can certainly hope for it!
Hmmmmm... I tried to think of a celebrity who isn't evil and who is not a politician (both the same thing), but I couldn't think of anyone who I would want to shoot an apple off their head. Sorry. Can YOU think of anyone, S.A?
s_noonan -- I choose "d". You did what any good engineer would do; take a really good design and make it even better!
S.A. -- There's a lot of information about Thyme scripting on the Algodoo forum, and that is where you will get most of the tutorials that you are looking for. Another good resource is "OPC" (Other People's Code). You can learn a lot by seeing how others have done certain things, but that is a more difficult way to learn because it usually causes a lot of unanswered questions. It helps if you had some previous programming experience, but for the person who has had zero experience, the road to learning scripting at a reasonable level could be a long and difficult journey. Start by doing some very simple things, such as changing the color of a circle when it collides with another object, and expand your knowledge from there. To get to a useful level where you are making complex scenes with scripting could take you many months or even a couple of years depending on how much effort you put into it. In addition to the scripting, there are things that you'll want to do that also requires a knowledge of math and physics. So, just knowing how to program with Thyme may not be enough depending on what you want to do with it.
Videos? Sorry, but there just ain't none!
Now drop what you're doing and get on over to the Algodoo forum and learn some scripting! When you have questions, most of us who use Thyme scripting in our scenes will be willing to help you with it. Just ask!
Nice job! Your code is obviously more compact than mine, but I think mine is easier for someone else to understand if they wanted to modify it. Anyway, both methods seem to work equally well.
I think you should add a few more lasers. Yup, just a few more.... Let's face it, 43 lasers just don't create enough sparkle. You need at least a few thousand, then that should really impress people with your abilities. And you might even receive a comment or two! WOW!
That's true. Sometimes I look at the main loop and assume the code is compact but I forget about the "hidden" functions which could add a ton of code to the brew!
Now that I found a new toy to play with (polygons!) I'm planning on creating more of these kinds of scenes. FUN STUFF!
Suggestion: Use arrow keys or other controls to move objects rather than making the players use the drag tool. The reason is, the drag or move tools can often drag and move other objects in the scene that were not intended to be dragged or moved. That can mess up the entire game. Yes, I know that making control keys is a little more complicated than just letting people drag stuff around, but it makes the game more "professional".
Except for that, it's a good start for a potentially good game.
I'm no expert on tanks or suspensions, but just looking at it, I think that your suspension is too wimpy. Maybe use heavier springs?
The texture won't help improve the suspension any, but it would make the tank look more realistic if you were to replace the texture with something that doesn't look so "cartoonish". The textured hubs don't even look round!
Maybe someone else could help you improve the suspension, but overall, the tank looks pretty good.
