Scene tag

This is like the other scene, but has the following additional features:

1. Turret is reversible. Press "E" or click the "E" circle and the turret will reverse.
2. Dirt in bucket moves with turret.
3. Tread has more traction and can be used for climbing (with a helper block) as seen in the video below.

I left the older scene up because it is simpler and faster.

Rev A - Added climbing blocks.
Rev B - Pivots now toggle on and off. Dump truck is reversible.
Rev C - Made targets larger and on top.

Excellent scene! The hydraulics operate very life-like, and the controls are smooth and accurate.

The only minor (picky) detail is the text on the Excavator is backwards when it switches direction. Of course we know why that happens, and it may not be a trivial matter to fix.

Other than that, you did an awesome job on it! _o_
Done. Thanks.
Nice, but to REALY be able to operate one of these machines you need
to be able to use all three axis of the bucket at the same time like this scene:
http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=65431
If you can get a grip in the ground its amazing what you can do with one!!!
Yea I can run one ;)
Gent is right. I used to own a farm tractor with a hydraulic front loader, and there were times when I needed to activate more than one axis at the same time (such as when using the loader to push the tractor out of deep mud or snow!). Unfortunately, you did not design it that way from the beginning, so changing how the controls operate at this point would be very difficult, and so I don't expect that you want to attempt it.

Good job on correcting the text!

Yes, noahthearkbuilder's Volvo Excavator scene is awesome. I originally designed this with a very young user in mind. This scene will probably never come close to noahthearkbuilder's scene's looks or functionality. I may experiment with toggling pivots 1, 2, and 3. That way multiple pivots can be operated at once.
Nice enhancement! Now, the next thing that I want you to do is to implement automatic (programmed) control of all excavator functions, including GPS tracking of its location. And as long as you'll be making those minor changes, I want you to add a .50 caliber machine gun and a rocket launcher. Thanks.
OK.;)
I changed my mind on the machine gun and rocket launcher, so please don't bother adding those enhancements.

By the way, there is a peculiar clickable circle that doesn't seem to operate correctly when zoomed in. It's the number 1 circle while the excavator is facing right (east). The clickable area is not consistent over the entire circle. For example, (looking at it like the face of a clock), the 11 and 12 O'clock positions do not work, and the 6 and 7 O'clock positions, as well as the exact center, do not work either. The number 1 circle for the left (west) facing excavator is active over the entire clickable circle.

I lied. The circles are not clickable. They were at one time and then I added text boxes and made both the boxes and the circle clickable and then after that I eliminated clicking on circles in order to minimize code. Anyways, thanks for the feedback. I will attempt to make the text boxes bigger without breaking anything.
what a big excavator can do in skilled hands:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctmNrKK87GA
effortlessly drags hopelessly stuck bulldozers
out of a muddy ditch
Don't get me wrong I really love this scene
but as you can see this guy is using 4 controls
at the same time to rescue the dozers
Nice HD scene. It looks like the 2nd bulldozer had one track temporarily stuck. Makes me wonder if he could have fixed it by temporarily reversing direction.

My scene now offers more combinations than using one pivot at a time, but less than half of the possible combinations are available. Although most of the pivots rotate slowly, the turret rotation is very fast (along with the dump truck U turns).

I might be able to do something similar to Robot Arm II, but I think I'm going to take a break from this scene for a little while.
naw the guy in the small dozer was an idiot
he wasn't even trying to help get himself out of that mess
If I was his boss he would be fired on the spot;)
Gent - Yes, I noticed that too. But I was thinking that maybe he was not able to move the tracks for some reason. Maybe the engine got water in it and wouldn't start, or maybe too much mud and water got into the gearbox or control linkages, etc. If I were the guy's boss, I would ask for a damned good explanation as to why he didn't apply power to the tracks when the excavator was pulling him out, and if his reason sounded lame, then I would fire him.
you are too nice the engine was obviously running, put out a nice cloud
of black smoke at one point;)
Back in the day John Deere meant something
THAT day is long past
Nowdays Deere stuff looks pretty and is operator friendly BUT stupidly
hard to service, been there done that for a living several years, those
machines have driveshafts with U joints that come from the factory with
no grease fittings, cant get to them to grease them unless you are highly
dedicated to avoid the disaster that happens when one fails even after
you have you have replaced all of the joints with greasable units:mad:
If it aint Cat it aint good.
Thank goodness I don't work on heavy equipment for a living any more:lol:
