This Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) car is a sure winner. It goes 45.1m up the ramp, looks like a real car, and although most of the design is from other contestants, good engineering doesn't necessarily require designing from scratch, but could mean getting the best results for minimum cost. The spring constant is touchy, but the car works reliably on my computer. If the car bounces off the wall, then increase the spring constant slightly. If the car doesn't make it to the wall, then decrease the spring constant slightly. If the car works sometimes but not others, then set sim.frequency = 500 in the console. Reset sim.frequency = 100 before exiting scene to maintain default setting.

The frame and insides are not visible, so select everything and increase Opacity to see inner workings.
