This is a fibre-optic cable I made with the Algodoo demo. The fixated piece on the left is the transmitter, and the un-fixated piece on the right is the receiver. The rest is the actual cable, and can be made as long as you want (as long as the laser's fade distance is high enough).
The cable might leak some light, but not much. The transmitter splits the beam into separate colours so that at least one nearly always hits the receiver block.
The opacity (1 or 0) is transferred from anything that touches the circle inside the transmitter to the box inside the receiver.
In this scene, pressing 0 (not numpad) transmits a logic 0, ie opacity 1. Pressing 1 (not numpad) transmits a logic 1, or opacity 0. |
