The industrial development of asteroids involves the extraction of raw materials from asteroids and space bodies in the asteroid belt and especially in near-Earth space.

Various minerals and volatile elements found in the rocks of an asteroid or comet can serve as a source of iron, nickel and titanium. In addition, it is assumed that some asteroids contain water—containing minerals, from which it is possible to obtain water and oxygen necessary for the maintenance of life, as well as hydrogen, one of the main types of rocket fuel. In the process of further space exploration, the use of space resources will be absolutely necessary.
