Totally scriptless (although I attempted to make a variable only to display the angular velocity, and then I scrapped it).

I've used a spring engine (albeit modified it) as the car's energy storage.
It uses NO negative damping so what you're seeing here doesn't break any laws of physics, I suppose.

the KERS stores the recuperated kinetic energy from the moving car as potential energy and then converts it back to kinetic energy once it's time to move the car.

I'm aware that this contest is over 10 years old, but it's so fun and I've always wanted to submit my attempt for a while :lol:
Your car breaks the laws of physics. The car gets accelerated to a velocity of 16 m/s before hitting the platform. That limits the car maximum increase in height to 13 meters. There's some funny business going on with springs.
uhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :/
@s_noonan

yeah, now that you mentioned it...
I may have unintentionally cheated:blush:
the springs in the 'engine' contain a lot of potential energy and they basically pull each other, causing it to keep on running until it comes to a stop from the springs' damping. And I've also noticed that the 'KERS' (the part when it recuperates kinetic energy) worked more like a "starter motor" and less of a generator.

I might do a re-entry with a proper KERS system
(again, I know- it's about 11 years old by now, but it's fun:lol:)

I see a way to win without cheating. The platform wheels extend 0.0099 above the platform. If you make your car wheelbase the same as the platform wheelbase then you can use the platform wheels to transfer energy into the car. The stored energy from the platform wheels plus stored energy from the kinetic energy conversion will propel the car past all the previous entries.
