I had this idea for a while, and i finally put it to use.
this spacecraft doesn't actually carry fuel, but it carries a timed PT.
any time you press W, you also rotate two pieces that are killer. they fold slowly down onto the thruster. In this simulation, the speed is 0.1x normal speed, which will allow the thruster to last 8 minutes if thrusting continuously. In normal speed, it lasts 48 seconds, and in 10x speed, it will last 4.8 seconds.
