Physics apply to lazers

Postby MEn » Tue Sep 01, 2009 4:13 pm

Have physics apply to lazers. I don't think it's great how they just stay there glued to the background.

yeah i didnt like that how it is auto-stuck maybe just put it on an none colliding circle?

also is your name a typo?

Yea, but it would be pretty easy to do it yourself, just atach it to a square or a circle, like rhett said

Don't lasers glue to the object you attach it to?

Make a box and put the laser on the box. Problem solved. No need to make the lasers physical objects when they automatically glue themselves to physical objects.

It's not.

Well I guess that does work, but I feel like there should be a side bar option, like with the Pen tool.

i reeeealy wish physics applied to lasers because then you could make scripts that use oncollide of the laser if you understand what i mean

I know what you mean foxtrot, I was thinking earlier how handy it'd be if i could oncollide a laser to change its colour instead of using vairiables. however, i see why theyve done it like they have. if you were to have the laser box itself interact with the enviroment, you'd need to have two collideset settings, which would be a bother to set up.

Well if they made this update right now, every scene that used lasers in them right now would be in the trash.

maybe make it an option?

As an alternative, I make the laser reflect off a script box first, where the scripts in the box affect the laser.

yeah thats what i have been doing but then the laser can only work every other frame of the simulation if that makes sense
