Can't find saves!!!

Postby StephenAlverez » Sun Oct 11, 2009 3:10 pm

I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 and the regular version of Algodoo, and when I save a scene I can't find it in the scenes folder, but i CAN find it when using Algodoo. This creates the problem of having my scenes folder filled up in Algodoo, but in reallity its not really there. How do i delete MY scenes that don't show up in the folder. I have been using phun for a while, and when i wanted to delete something, all i did was go to the folder and delete it. I also can't upload these scenes. And when i try to download a scene into the scenes folder, the same thing happens.!!!??????

Depending on your operating system and installation, your files may end up in two places. They can either be in the installation folder, for example

C:\Program Files\Algodoo\Scenes

Or, they can be in your home catalogue:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\Documents\Algodoo\Scenes

Uh, just to clarify. You do realize that you have to replace 'YourUsername' with your username, right? Sorry, just a great amount of curiosity preying upon me :P

That was the way Windows XP was for me, actually. Exactly like that. But now, I moved 'My Documents' to another drive, so it's different now. But I can surely say that it was like that before.

I still can't find saves, and i don't want to go through a long process to find them! i can't even find C:\Documents and Settings\, ITS NOT THERE!!! i have found that each SCENE makes a new folder, so i can't move a folder with a, or a few, scenes in it and have them all go there!

Search for 'Algodoo/scenes' on your computer. You should find it.

I have a similar problem, but I'm working on a Mac. I can find saves in Algodoo, but not in the directories. And: I have Phunlets that I've created that are in a Phun folder: should I migrate these to Algodoo? Is there a help doc that explains how best to transition from Phun to Algodoo?

Thanks.

Try this: Go to your User folder, click library, click application support, and click Algodoo. Tada!

Thanks, Fujitsu. I found it. Weird though, right? There's a scenes folder in the application folder and a scenes folder in the Library? And it looks like my Phun scenes are in the folder in the Library? Is there a faq on organizing scenes?

Scenes in the application folder are 'default scenes'. Those saved in the Library are the ones you made.

This is much more user-friendly IMO.
