Yeah it's very important you get the correct one for the OS you're using!
I do stuff and break things. You know how it is.

Ubuntu is a type of Linux.

1. Download it
2. Copy it to /opt (you'll need to do this as root/administrator)
3. Extract it there (you'll also need to do this as root/administrator)
4. There should be a folder called "Algodoo" with a program called "algodoo" in it. Run this program. Make a shortcut on the desktop if you want.

Also, when you unlock it you need to be running it as root/administrator.

I just thought of something...did you mean that you can't open the download? Because I think it has the wrong file extension. Rename it so it ends in .tar and try opening it, extract it to anywhere (/opt is suggested but it doesn't have to be that) and run "algodoo"

Did you ever have phun on Windows before Ubuntu?
Because for me too, on the same computer phun was terribly slow on Ubuntu while running fine on Windows.

This assumes he downloaded it to /opt, actually.
If this doesn't work, post any error messages you get - I also had some problems with the Linux installation but I got it to work eventually.

Programs that just contain a single exe file don't need you to extract them. So if your used to doing that it can be easy to get confused.
