Suggest changes and improvements to Algodoo.

Fuel, Fire, Compression - I buy it

Postby re_animate » Sat Oct 10, 2009 4:21 am

Mix Algodoo with the powder game and i buy it.

add in Gas/Air/Atmosphere, Atmospheric compression, Fuel, Fire, Material temperature/pressure failing points.

factor things like, if the fire burns in a closed box it will die because it has no air intake. then add in temperature failing points for materials and the ability to be cooled by water or gas etc

Add that in and the possibilities are FAR greater, in fact i think it would open the software up to a whole new range of thinkers and we mite see people design new forms of engine etc.

You could make things like a combustion engine, a pressure engine, a water heater, rockets, warheads. seriously the possibilities are endless.

ALSO the fact that you could make warheads, cars, possibly bullets and materials with breaking points (maybe even denting/deforming points i.e. instead of disappearing, the material bends out of place/expands from the heat. snaps in half etc) could open up the realm of multilayer action. you want your product to make money, there you go my friends.

even i would buy this software if it could do all that simply.

We all know how much particle and gas systems can do, and the people at Algoryx are already planning to get it done. Just remember it's really not that simple, so give some props if this is done.

And once it gets done, I'm using it to finish my boeing 737 :)

You gonna make it catch fire and blow up and crash???!

Yeah :) And also going to make the engines burn on real fuel..

Where did everyone get the idea this would be done!

Response to some suggestions***
Emilk wrote:Fire! Combustion! Explosions! - I'm actually not very fond of this idea since I think it rhymes badly with the Phun concept. But once the new physics engine is done and we have support for multiple liquids and gases - maybe I'll add a feature that lets liquids burn and create hot gasses or something of the sort. Maybe.

Emilk wrote:* Sand: I won't add sand as a primitive in Phun; but I will try to optimize the code so you can simulate sand by having a lot of small bodies.

That's the most he's said being positive about the idea. Don't sell algodoo for something its not.

Also how many times this has been suggested and shot down.

Don't doo fire. It's a chemical reaction and therefore is not good for a "physics" engine. I like the Idea of gas, though.

Chemistry is technically applied physics.
Besides, just take a look at thyme. It's computer programming, which has absolutely nothing to do with physics. So "don't doo thyme"

That just might work at the same time my campaign to remove Algodoo does!
I do stuff and break things. You know how it is.

I really just don't want the algoryx team wasting time doing chemical reactions when there are better suggestions out there. I don't care that thyme exists because It's not like I'm forced to use it. I do care if time is being spent updating thyme that could have been spent updating/adding a better feature. And in fact, I wouldn't even advocate the removal of thyme because that would also be a waste of time.

Thyme is like a cement that fills in the cracks.
Chemicals reactions are not only possible, but very easy. Gases can be simulated with water and some SPH editing. Fire is possible if you put some effort into it.
