Latest Algobox update

Postby Xray » Wed Apr 17, 2013 6:04 pm

The new website skin for Algobox looks great, but one feature that no longer seems to work is, I used to be able to hover my cursor over the title of a scene, and a partially transparent image of the information box would show. Now that does not happen. I find the feature very convenient so that I can quickly see if a scene has received new comments since the last time I checked. It saves me having to click on the title which would open a new browser window. I hope that the transparent information box can be put back like it used to be.

Thanks

That box still works in some form of way, it's just the math hasn't been updated for it's position.
I brought up the issue a few hours ago, so I'm sure it will be fixed soon!

Yeah, the algoryx team is taking its time... For now on, I suggest to try use a proxy and disable JavaScript. Or try to stick to the built in algobox.

I'll try and push them into fixing it, but the team is all over the place recently.

The built-in Algobox does not show the information box when cursor hovers over title. Same situation as web browser Algobox. :(

EDIT: s_noonan made mention that he was not able to rate other scenes. I tried it myself and confirmed that I was not able to rate other scenes either. So, apparently, Algobox has more than just the one problem that I mentioned above.

To be fair, it looks like they're slowly working on algobox.

Changes:

Scene layout -
looks like they've moved from the original tables, and now the new layout fits with the actual websites body width
--Looks like in doing this, they've removed the scene infomation box, if they've removed it indefinetly, (seams like they are trying to move from javascript), I can possibly get them to add the infomation to the small info-box at the bottom of the thumbnail in the event they don't add the hover info-box back, in that case, what info would you like to see from the scene in order of priority?

Bugs:-
Rating is broken
(admin) - Reports and bans screen messages broken - theming, major!
(admin) - Logs info has no theming, not major, but is handy and make it nicer on the eyes when browsing lots of info!
Algodoo 2.1 version string has not been implimented into the upload code?
Social Media sharing links, facebook out of place (too high!) - caused by download button being smaller!
"Highlighted scenes and browse section" - too much whitespace in the gap?
Popular scenes page, Selection of what to class as popular looks stupid now, maybe add the whole search box section with one dropdown menu?
Algobox, missing translations or translation code bugged??? This has been like this for a while, but on some pages such as the search page, I always see stuff like [[group]]

Anything else, please let us know!
(ps, topic forwarded to the web developer and the best of the Algoryx team :P
pps, Any Algoryx team members not in that group, don't kill me! )

That would be great if they can add just a few info items to the thumbnail. I can't speak for other users, but I would like to see:
1. Number of comments.
2. Number of downloads.
3. Rating (this is my least important item to view, and I won't cry if it is not included)

Thanks

I'm using the latest version of Internet Explorer with windows8 operating system in the Desktop (not Metro) interface.

These are the problems that I am seeing.

1. On the algobox/index.php page, color contrast of the green text on the blue bar is too low for
Code: Select all
<div style="float:left;">Highlighted scenes</div>
<div style="float:left;">Browse</div>

, making them hard to see.

2. On the algobox/index.php page, tooltips don't work.
Code: Select all

<div id="scene_tooltip_69210" class="xstooltip">
[tooltip info]
</div>

3. On the algobox/details.php page, I can't rate other scenes.

4. Pages load slower than original version.

5. On the algobox/index.php page, I randomly get the following error:

Internet Explorer has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
available.

I found another bug to add to this list. I cannot add Smilies to the Description of my uploaded scenes. This goes for both cases when uploading the scene, AND when editing the scene.

[BUG] On 'settings' page of Algobox web site, current time indicates +1 hour.

JST (Japan Standard Time) is UTC+9.
So I selected +9 as time zone, but it shows UTC+10 as current time. :?
(Note: No summer time in Japan)

Okay, I've been talking to the Algoryx team about the website.

The version string has been updated for algodoo 2.1, and rating has been fixed.
The problem algoryx has now raised up about about how much time they can spend on fixing the Algobox site, especially when it is about ready for a re-do.
So, what has basically been said is that the team is currently busy, and will look into cleaning it up a little as soon as they get the time.

So, what that means is, they will be able to fix small issues and other stuff, but as soon as there is a suitable amount of free time for the website, we are kinda stuck, as much as I wish I could help with the situation, we are kinda stuck with what's there.

I have to say that on behalf of the team, issues with algobox wasn't exactly going to be expected, other then possibly the info-box being out of place, but that should of been a simple fix, but Algobox's code is old and uses methods that where the way a few year ago, but are now classed as obsolete!

We will just have to wait and see how this develops!
