[ALGOBOX] TAGS ISSUE

Postby Xray » Fri Mar 08, 2013 8:45 pm

I recently discovered that I can "Add Tags" to other user's scenes. Is that an intentional feature or an unintended bug?

Could you explain the logic behind the decision to allow anyone to add tags? What's to keep little demons from entering unwanted rubbish in other people's tags for their scenes?

The main reason for tags is to allow users to search for scenes via key words.

The intentional side of it, is that sometimes someone thinks that the scene could have a tag on it to make it more searchable.

Shamefully, there is nothing other then our trust in users for this function, however if required, it is probably possible to block specific members from having access to that button.

That surprises me because we typically do not "trust" strangers on the Internet to act in a civilized manner. Most people do act civilized, but unfortuneately there are plenty of "little demons" out there who have nothing better to do than to cause misery to other people. Anyhow, I would not want other people deciding for me which tags are proper for my scenes. If I disagree with a tag that someone entered, I don't see any way of removing it, short of bothering a moderator.

When uploading a scene, the user can decide, with check-boxes, whether or not he/she wants other users to be able to modify their scene, or to add comments and ratings. The same should be true for adding tags. There should be a checkbox that allows each user to decide if they want to allow other people to add tags to their scenes.

Thanks!

EDIT: I just found out that tags can be removed by editing the scene. Simply click on Edit, then highlight the tags that you want to remove. When you click on Submit, the tags will be deleted. I feel better about it now!
