unable to deselect spring endpoints
selecting a spring endpoint along with one other type of object (whether it be hinges, or polygons, boxes, or whatever) does not allow deselection of the spring endpoint. so if you have a large spring endpoint overlapping a smaller object, it is impossible to delete just the object while maintaining the spring location

Re: unable to deselect spring endpoints
that is a problem i have too but i guess it is because it is attached to the object or something
Basically, there are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who know binary, and those who don't.

Re: unable to deselect spring endpoints
no, it's because the object is completely underneath the hinge point. imagine if you will, making a 1 meter box, and then making a .75 meter radius circle centered over the box, you can't select the box directly, but you can select both the box and the sphere, and then in the options menu choose Selection -> Select -> Select Boxes
if you try to do the same thing with the spring endpoint, select both the endpoint and the box, and go to Selection -> you get a menu that's titled "Selection - 2 objects" with the menu options Select alike; Invert selection; Deselect Everything; Move selected to back; Move selected to front; Group; [ ] Follow; [ ] Track rotation; [ ] Gravity direction follows orientation"

Use "move to back" or "move to front" to get the spring endpoint in front of the box. Then you can select and deselect your endpoint.

Re: unable to deselect spring endpoints
this is an example of the problem I've got. there are two hinges attaching the upper box to the background, an upper, and a lower. how do I delete the lower hinge while maintaining the springs?

Re: unable to deselect spring endpoints
The easiest way is to move the spring end point to the back, but I guess you are trying to point out that the spring end point does not count as a separate type of object and another type of object will not be shown in the Select list in the Selection tab, because of that.
