How to diable Hotkeys

Postby Dadasas » Tue Aug 31, 2010 2:59 am

I really need to be able to turn off the hot keys, like if I want to drive a car with "M" but I also want to drag, it changes to tool to move! Help please?

With Algodoo, the code below turns off hot key for move tool ("M").
Code: Select all
Tools.MoveTool.hotkey = ""

NOTE: This setting will be saved into config.cfg, not into scene file. i.e. This script affect only you. So, when you want to upload the scene, I suggest to change the key to drive your car.

The code below will re-set hot key for move tool.
Code: Select all
Tools.MoveTool.hotkey = "m"

Thank you, is there an easy way to disable all of them?

Beyond typing them all out, no. You wouldn't want to anyway it would mean your version of Algodoo is different to everyone else's. So if you make a wicked scenes that you move with "M" and still need to use the drag tool it will work great for you but be a bitch for everyone else. Not to mention all the scenes that uses the hotkeys will be useless for you.

Yeah I know what you mean Mystery.
They should add this in the next version of Algodoo.

Then, bind two keys that you don't use in a game, script the one to disable the the hotkeys in question, and the other to re-enable them, and tell the player to press the disable key when he wants to play, and befor he changes anything, to pres the enable key. Just a thought, don't know the scripting. :oops:

No, they should just add a checkbox in the Options menu to enable/disable hotkeys.
Matthias Wandel is epic, in my humble opinion.

As well as I know, you have to turn on/off the hotkey one by one.

I'll tell you some hint for exploring thyme.

1. You can search command by inputting "/words" (e.g. /hotkey will show all variable which include "hotkey" in the variable name or the description).

2. In console, tab key is very useful.
[Tab]-key will complete words and/or show command list.

3. There exists thyme command list [Thyme][1.5.61]Thyme Command/Variables List
This list doesn't have newest command but will be useful.

4. And recent changes: Phun / Algodoo - Thyme variable changelog

Please explore thyme more and more. Then, you can become a thyme expert. ;)

I think you can go to the config and delete all the keys or something. That would erase alle the keys

I know, but if you want to put it in a game, you script the changes in algodoo, and then script them back, i was thinking of a key bind, but i cant seem script a key bind, so i was hoping for a varible that was quick and easy to change, changing the hotkeys, and then back again, keeping the hotkeys, even if the hotkeys were not the original hotkeys, so i tried to make a custom array veriable with the most important hotkeys in it, (for instance a s d and x c for other reasons) so i could change all the hotkeys needed back to what they where before the change, so i wouldnt get rage reports in it.
